This X-Men movie ended up being a much stranger experience than I expected 🤔
After Days of Future Past, I had no idea what to expect. Entire timelines were rewritten. Many of you mentioned things don't really stick to any particular story line anymore so to keep an open mind lol. And yeah... I get that now.Apocalypse felt pretty mythological at times. Less like a superhero movie and more like a story about fear, power, loss, and people searching deep for something to believe in. Searching for hope in a world that deserves to be destroyed and rebuilt again.Apocalypse himself wasn't really my favorite villain, not gonna lie.But there was something really fascinating about the way he felt. He had those Thanos vibes. But a bit more on the fence about what he really wanted lol.I think what I enjoyed the most about this one was the passing of the torch. Watching the younger versions of the heroes we remember from the trilogy become legends. Jean was INCREDIBLE. Quicksilver was epic. Storm's origin is fascinating. Wolverine was raw & painful. Charles was SO back! And the flashback to First Class sent me spiraling (in a great way).Watching Magneto scream up to the heavens in pain had my heart breaking in half. I love how this movie gave us a softer glimpse into the man behind the helmet. Underneath all the anger, he's really just a man desperate to find a place where he belongs.And maybe that's why I'm walking away loving this movie so much. It wasn't perfect. Not every storyline landed. The villain was meh. But I left feeling connected to the X-Men team more than I ever have before.
