Where do I begin....
You all know Wolverine quickly became my favorite part of the X-Men films. So I was very excited, but also pretty nervous finally jumping into this film! And you all told me I needed to bring tissues and be prepared before I hit play which always makes it more intimidating going in 😅The thing is tho... this movie didn't go the way I expected one bit.Never in a million years would I have guessed that the true villain of this story would be something as everyday and horrifying as corn syrup. Not a supervillain. Not a cosmic threat. Just humanity quietly poisoning the future. It deteriorated Charles' mind. It slowly killed Logan from the inside out. It erased the possibility of any new mutants being born naturally.My heart broke for Charles over and over. Finding out that his deteriorating mind killed the X-Men was deeply tragic. After everything they've fought through. Every timeline. Every sacrifice. Every victory. THIS is where we find them? Old. Broke. Tired. Senile.It felt so cruel.I never thought I'd see the end of the X-Men story look like this.I truly respect how faithful it is to the core theme that has been running throughout this entire franchise. No matter the timeline. No matter the heroes or how many times the future is rewritten. Humanity always finds a new reason to fear mutants. A new way to control them. A new excuse to destroy them.The faces change, the methods change. The outcome stays the same.For all of its action and violence and tragedy, Logan was less of a superhero movie and more a deeper reflection on humanity. A story about aging. About loss. About carrying pain for so long that it becomes part of who you are.Now you run on home to your mother, and tell her... Tell her everything's all right. And there aren't any more guns in the valley.
