I don't think I was prepared for how intense this finale would be.
In a series that spent so much of its time feeling hopeful, whimsical, and full of magic.. This last episode showed just how dark this world can be. The tension throughout the entire episode was crazy. Every time I thought things might settle back down, even more chaos took over.What hit me the hardest was definitely Euini. Seeing his transformation.. "I feel myself disappearing"One of the things this series has done amazingly is show how vulnerable these witches can be. They're learning incredibly powerful things, but they're still just kids. And watching Euini get caught up in all of that felt so tragic and heartbreaking and terrifying.And then there's Qifrey.I still don't know what to think of him even after one whole season. Which is honestly amazing. The possibility that Qifrey may have used forbidden magic in the end there though... it has me wishing there was at least a trailer for the next season already!I love how much this show makes you sit and question that line between witches and the brimmed hat. The constant image of the scales with their caps on either side. This entire season has been asking us to weigh both sides. To ask ourselves: What is he balance between good intentions and dangerous actions?
