This finale was INSANE!
This entire season it felt like Matt was being pulled apart from every direction possible. His faith. His career. His relationships. His responsibilities. Daredevil. Matt. The man he wants to be vs the man he thinks he's supposed to be. Every single episode felt like another piece of him was being tested and refined. I think that's what made this whole season so amazing for me.Plus there was Frank Castle. The Punisher.Meeting Frank this season was easily one of my favorite parts. Every conversation between him and Matt felt electric. They couldn't be more different, but at the same time they understand each other in a way nobody else can. Some of my favorite scenes in this entire season were just them talking. Arguing. Pushing and testing each other's beliefs. Trying to find that line and whether that line even matters anymore.Watching Frank finally embrace becoming the Punisher was epic.But also scary and heartbreaking at the same time.The more pieces we get about Frank, the more tragic his story becomes. I know there is still so much more to him that we don't know. What really happened? What is Kandahar? How deep does it all go? I'm so ready to jump into his series soon!As for Elektra... Man.I spent most of this season not really knowing how to feel about her.There were moments I loved her. Moments that frustrated me.Moments where I couldn't tell if she was helping or hurting Matt's growth.But then the final conversation between the two of them completely changed my perspective. Matt opening up to her. Opening up to himself. She put it perfectly.. He's been afraid of himself. Hiding from himself. It felt like the perfect simple summary of his entire journey this season.Because that's exactly what Matt has been doing.He's been trying to split himself into pieces.Lawyer Matt. Catholic Matt. Daredevil.As if he had to choose one and sacrifice the others.But through Elektra and through loving her.. He finally understands something that has been staring him in the face this entire time. He doesn't want to stop being Daredevil. Without that part of himself, he doesn't feel complete. I thought it was beautiful that his relationship with Elektra ultimately helped him find that clarity.For all of the chaos she brought. All of the frustration and friction and mess.She helped him ultimately understand who he really is.Who he really wants to be.The speech he gave her after finding out she was Black Sky hit me, too. You are not who other people say you are. You are what you choose to be. He was talking to Elektra in that moment, but he was also finally talking to himself. By the end of this season, it feels like he's finally finding his way back.Not just as Daredevil. Not just as Matt Murdock.But as all of it. The lawyer, the Catholic, the vigilante, the man.He can be all of them.AND THEN... HE TOLD KAREN!I actually screamed lolThe look on Karen's face.. The timing.. The way the season just drops that bomb and immediately ends. SO CRUELBut now I can't wait to watch more seasons with you all! Thank you so much for hanging out through Season 2. It has definitely been one of my favorites so far. Next week I'll be rewatching Deadpool, which should be a fun change of pace after this emotional damage LOLWe'll be spending a little more time in the MCU before eventually jumping back into the Defenders Saga.
