There are some movies that are sad because of the story they tell. Then there are movies that are sad because of the story happening outside the screen. Wakanda Forever is both.
I knew going in this was going to hurt because of Chadwick Boseman. He loved being Black Panther. And knowing he was quietly fighting cancer while giving it everything he had to this role.. It made every bit hit that much harder now that he's gone. You could feel him in this entire movie.I don't know if I've ever seen a film honor someone's legacy so beautifully.They didn't replace him or try to pretend nothing changed.They let everyone sit in that grief. His mother. His sister. Wakanda.And this movie felt so human because of that.. even with blue people running around 🤣I also loved that this movie wasn't only about loss, but about how we all carry it differently. Shuri tried to bury herself in logic, Romanda carried all the weight on her back and pushed through, Okoye questioned everything she believed her purpose was, Wakanda tried to move forward when it wasn't truly ready. It reminded me that grief never has a singular path. Sometimes you're angry. Sometimes you're numb. Sometimes you push everyone else away. But that path always shapes you into who you become next which is honestly beautiful in it's own sad way.I also have to give this movie credit.. I was NOT expecting a whole new civilization to be introduced to us. Again lol. And Namor was... A lot 😅 He was honestly a brilliant antagonist with understandable motives and I love how this movie asks us to challenge that morally grey area of revenge. But wow, the longer this movie went on, the more his hypocrisy really started to drive me insane. He demanded understanding & protection for his people while refusing to extend that same grace to anyone else. By the end, I wasn't thinking about Black Panther as just another MCU hero anymore.I was thinking about Chadwick Boseman.The impact he had by carrying himself with kindness, strength and dignity both on and off the screen.The final moments of this film felt like I should have worn white instead of black.They felt like a thank you for bringing Black Panther to us.And honestly I don't think they could have honored his legacy any better than they did 💜Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/R8SSq918IbwI watched this on Disney+
