Where to even begin with this beautiful anime...
Violet Evergarden quietly changed me every week since I started it.It changed the way I look at the people around me. Friends, family, strangers. How I interpret love, emotions, being human. How I understand forgiveness. True forgiveness with no other strings attached. It felt less like watching another anime and more like sitting through a beautiful meditation.A meditation on what it means to be human. It's so beautiful how full circle this mini series was. Violet in the beginning barely knew what emotions even were. She didn't understand the weight behind words like "thank you", "I'm sorry" or "I love you". And watching her slowly discover these emotions through writing letters was one of the most rewarding character journeys I've experienced. And even though I'm honestly VERY in touch with my emotions. I felt like I was learning with her. This show made me stop and think about those words. I love you. I'm sorry. Thank you. Thank you very much. I think I've always understood them as something you say. But Violet taught me that they're something you leave behind. In letters. In promises. In memories. In quiet ways that we choose to keep living for the people that are lost.It made me see grief through an entirely new lens as well.It isn't just something you defeat. It doesn't disappear because enough time has passed.Everyone Violet met was carrying something heavy. Yet the show never treated those emotions like something that needed to be fixed.Instead they became a part of our story. Grief is a part of our story. And love is what allows us to keep moving anyway 🤍The final two episodes were such a beautiful conclusion. And now I get emotional just thinking back to Episode 1.To who Violet was to who she becomes. My favorite thing about this beautiful anime was how much symbolism and emotions were in every detail. Every line, every music note, every lighting detail. Flowers blooming after loss. Hands reaching instead of fighting. Light spilling through windows during moments of understanding. The light after the darkness. Letters crossing oceans and countries to connect hearts that could no longer be together. Everything felt so intentional.Thank you all for experiencing this one with me. Reading your comments every week and hearing your own interpretations and how much it wrecked you made this journey that much more fulfilling! I genuinely feel like this series gave me permission to really slow down, sit with hard emotions that I'd probably normally run from, and to appreciate the incredible weight our words can carry.I'll see you all in the movies soon!
