So, in case you don't know, recently, Discord announced that sometime in March, they are gonna mark everyone as a Teen, and for those that want to prove they are an adult to gain access to adult content and other features, people are required to do either a Face Scan or show their Government ID to prove they are an adult. This was a requirement in the EU, and Australia due to their laws, but Discord aims to make this requirement global, and many people like myself have issues with this cause Discord is clearly not someone I would trust with that kind of information, especially when only 4 months ago this very system got hacked and over 70,000 people’s IDs or Face Scans where stolen.
Of course, people are not happy with this, and the backlash has been pretty strong. Discord did backpedal a bit, claiming most of us would be uneffect cause they’ll have an A.I. look through our past events to determine we are an adult, but that isn’t much of a possitive and a lot of people are not accepting that.
I don’t plan to delete my server, and because of our Discord history, my team might not be asked to show our Face or ID. However, if it does, I’ll abandon the server and remove the Discord links from my platforms. My team has already looking at backups and alternatives to continue our work. If you don’t want this to happen, of course, spread this news and get those to cancel their Nitro Subscriptions and call up support making a complaint about this. It doesn’t guarantee they will cancel their plan, but the results can be so bad for them that they decide to reverse their plans sometime after they put this BS into motion. The point is, don’t give in just cause they didn’t right off the bat, as the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”, these things can take time.
