That Day When Suzuki-kun Wasn't the Mob-B! Chapter 282: Marching on Amaterasu
Provocation.
Finn didn't actively go out of his way to cause trouble, but he certainly didn't mind escalating it when others brought it to his doorstep. His enemies constantly operated under a dangerous delusion. Because Finn usually remained quiet and focused on his business, they assumed he was afraid. They thought they could poke the bear and get away with it.
But what happened when the bear decided to provoke them back?
Unlike a formal declaration of war, a provocation was technically harmless. Finn was merely teasing them. Yet, despite the casual, almost playful tone of his words, the sheer, suffocating horror radiating from the multi-pantheon army standing behind him froze the blood of everyone watching.
Finn knew exactly what he was doing. Kokabiel and Vali had caused massive trouble, and if he didn't set a hard boundary right now, the Japanese Shinto Pantheon and Grigori would assume he was easy to manage. They would constantly test his borders. So, Finn decided to rip the band-aid off and drag everything directly to the absolute brink of a full-blown world war.
He had made his declaration. He stood ready to slaughter them all, perfectly willing to physically sink the entire island of Japan into the ocean if they crossed him.
But what about the Shinto Gods secretly watching from the shadows? What about the Fallen Angels surrounding him?
The overwhelming bloodlust, the apocalyptic Demonic Energy, and the sheer, towering presence of Finn leading an army of Chinese Demons and Indian war gods brought absolute terror to their hearts.
Finn wasn't joking. He was entirely ready to go all out. But were they?
Absolutely not.
Even after he boldly threw down the gauntlet, the battlefield remained dead silent. Not a single entity dared to step forward to answer his provocation. The massive horde of Fallen Angels Azazel had summoned physically shrank back, huddled close together in pure fear.
What the hell are you doing?!
What is happening?!
Azazel, say something!
The panicked thoughts of the Fallen Angels were deafening, but Azazel himself was sweating bullets. He had never, in his centuries of life, expected to be backed into a corner like this. Just minutes ago, Azazel had sighed in relief when Finn released Vali and Kokabiel. He thought the crisis was over. He had planned to slowly appease the Balam heir with favors, assuming Finn was reasonable.
But when Finn casually executed Kokabiel right in front of him, Azazel's reality shattered.
A small, deeply buried part of Azazel had flared with rage. Kokabiel was a complete piece of shit, yes. He was a delusional warmonger who wanted to plunge the Three Factions back into a bloody tragedy. But Kokabiel was also a comrade. They had fought side-by-side during the Great War.
Yet, Azazel was a realist. Kokabiel had always dreamed too big. For a ten-winged Cadre who historically ran away with his tail between his legs from a mere human wielding the Durandal holy sword in the past, how could he possibly think he could orchestrate a new Great War?
Azazel felt a cold sweat drip down his neck as he realized the scale of the army currently pointing weapons at his head. He realized Finn was testing him. If Azazel showed even a fraction of hostility or selfishness right now, Grigori would be wiped off the map. Finn had spared Vali, but he was demanding absolute, unconditional submission in return.
If Azazel gave the wrong answer, it would be an absolute slaughter. The Fallen Angels versus the elite Devils, the Chinese Yokai, and the lightning warriors of Indra, all led by an Ultimate-Class monster! Even worse, legendary figures like Sun Wukong were casually lounging in Finn's ranks, grinning like they couldn't wait for the violence to start.
"What's wrong? Are you afraid?" Finn asked, breaking the silence with a cold, mocking smirk.
"W-We're allies, right?" Azazel laughed nervously, holding up his hands in a placating gesture. "How could I ever even think about fighting you guys here?"
Chuckle!
A low, collective chuckle rippled through the ranks of Finn's army. They were laughing at the absolute cowardice of the Grigori Governor-General.
Finn held up a hand, silencing his troops. "Don't laugh at them. They are going to be our loyal comrades for the upcoming war."
"Hahaha, that's true!" Sun Wukong laughed boisterously, twirling his staff.
"Eh? War? What war?!" Azazel panicked, his eyes widening. "Who exactly are we going to fight?!"
"Who said anything about fighting immediately, Azazel?" Finn smiled, his golden eyes completely unreadable. "We're just going to pay a polite visit to a certain group."
"...Where exactly are we going?" Azazel asked, a deep sense of dread pooling in his stomach.
"Mie Prefecture."
"..." Azazel looked like he was about to pass out.
Why did Azazel react like that? Because Mie Prefecture was the sacred, absolute home turf of Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess and supreme leader of the Japanese Shinto Pantheon!
If Finn marched a multi-pantheon army directly into Mie Prefecture, it wasn't a visit. It was an invasion!
"Akeno," Finn turned to his Queen, completely ignoring Azazel's horror. "Let's go on a trip. Everyone, do not hold back. Drinks and food are entirely on me for this Mie vacation!"
"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!"
The massive army roared in absolute triumph, their bloodthirsty cheers shaking the very foundations of the city. They couldn't wait for their 'vacation' to Japan!
"...Huh? We're going on a trip?" The horde of Fallen Angels blinked in utter confusion. But seeing that Finn's army had completely dropped their killing intent, they collectively let out a massive, trembling sigh of relief. They weren't going to die today!
"Oh, we are more than ready for a vacation!" Akeno smiled sweetly, though her violet eyes snapped toward Azazel with absolute, freezing malice. "After all, our home was just violently destroyed by a certain someone's subordinate."
"I-I will fix it!" Azazel frantically promised, raising his hands. "I will make it better! Ten times better! No, a thousand times better! State-of-the-art defenses, luxury baths, whatever you want!"
"Don't mess around with modern junk. Just rebuild it exactly as it was," Finn ordered flatly.
"...Yes, sir."
With that, there was absolutely no stopping the momentum. The entire supernatural side of Japan was instantly thrown into a full-blown, DEFCON-1 panic. The Shinto spies watching the borders realized Finn was actively marching his coalition army directly toward Mie Prefecture!
What would happen when he arrived? Nobody knew for sure. But nobody had the power to stop him, either.
"Sona, Rias. I am leaving now. Thank you for your brief hospitality," Finn said casually, giving the two dumbfounded heiresses a polite nod as he prepared to step through a massive teleportation circle.
"Ah, wait a moment, Finn! I—"
"Don't you dare step into that portal!" Sona hissed, violently grabbing the back of Rias's collar before the Crimson Princess could abandon her territory. "Who exactly is going to clean up this massive crater if you leave?!"
"...Can't you do it?" Rias asked, looking genuinely desperate to follow Finn's entourage.
"..." Sona simply glared at her childhood friend with absolute, murderous strictness.
Both heiresses were terrified that Finn would leave Kuoh with a terrible impression of them. But for now, as the terrifying coalition army vanished through the golden portals, taking the threat of war with them, Kuoh Town was finally peaceful once again.
...probably.
"...What the hell just happened?" Issei muttered, completely at a loss as he stared at the empty, scorched crater. He knew, with absolute certainty, that the crisis wouldn't just end here. Not after Finn had shown the world his true fangs.
A short time later, Finn arrived in the beautiful coastal towns of Mie Prefecture. The ocean breeze was fresh, the scenery was pristine, and his army was currently treating the entire region like a massive, rowdy festival.
As he stepped out onto a scenic balcony to enjoy the view, Finn paused. He looked to his right.
Standing entirely out of place in their torn, dirt-smudged latex combat suits were the two Church exorcists. Xenovia and Irina had somehow blindly followed him through the portal to Mie, despite the fact that he absolutely hadn't invited them.
Finn opened his mouth to ask exactly why they were still here.
Before he could even get a word out, Xenovia looked him dead in the eye, her stoic face completely devoid of shame or hesitation.
"So, when exactly are we going to have a fuck?" she asked simply.
"....." Finn stared at her.
Yup. This woman was either stupid or honest.
