Devlog Update: Inventory & Equipment Systems

Happy New Year, everyone! This week’s report is all about the progress I’ve made on the inventory, equipment, and underlying data systems. I originally wanted to share this as a GIF, but since Patreon restricts public posts containing adult content, the animated version will be available in a Patreon-exclusive post.

The Protagonist & UI

The protagonist is a tomboyish character who starts with little interest in self-adornment and possesses a toned physique. Depending on your chosen gender - male, female, or hermaphrodite - their physical traits will reflect that assigned gender.

The UI for the protagonist is highly modular. You can customize their hairstyle, facial expressions, makeup, skin tone, and even specific genitalia shape and size. Because the character's outlook on self-expression can change throughout the game, I’ve kept the "base" model as neutral as possible so players can truly see the transformation as they begin to experiment with their appearance.

Dynamic Clothing: The clothing system is equally diverse. As seen in the first two images, clothing proportions shift dynamically based on the character's gender and anatomy. If a player has male genitalia, for example, the clothing will realistically adjust its fit and position to account for the undergarments or outfits being worn.

The Inventory & Profile System

In-game, the "inventory" actually functions as a secret profile where the protagonist records private data for later use. This menu tracks weaponry, items, and body status.

Key Features include:

Climate Adaptation: Since the game features a dynamic date/time system with shifting weather, players must dress appropriately for the temperature to avoid penalties.

The Allure Stat: This determines how much attention you draw from others. While high Allure can help with seduction, it’s a double-edged sword - it can also attract hostile or unwelcome visitors. The basic plantation worker attire (shown in the third image) has an Allure stat of zero.

Durability & Exposure: Every piece of clothing has a durability rating. While sturdy work clothes last a long time, fragile dresses can break under pressure. If a garment fails, that body part becomes exposed, which will impact your reputation and mental state.

Body Implants: The fourth image shows the "status book" page. The transparent squares are reserved for stats and body implants. These range from realistic medical implants (like birth control plantable on one's arm) to more mysterious augmentations that can physically alter the protagonist's body.

Modular Data Management

The real heavy lifting this week wasn’t just the UI design, but the data management system powering it. I’ve completely modularized item data, making it easy to equip, unequip, and modify on the fly. By streamlining the backend code, calculations for stats and effects are now much more efficient.

What's Next? Next week, I’ll be diving into the Weaponry & Battle System updates. Stay tuned!
