Devlog Update: Mutations, New Enemies, and DNA Management
In this update, I've added various types of mutations along with new enemies that inhabit specific terrains and can inflict them. I've also implemented a DNA management system that lets players check which mutations they've acquired.
Poll Results: Defining the 'Critical Point' Transformation
The latest poll results are in! The majority of players indicated they don't want "critical point" mutations. After reflecting on the feedback, I realized that the transformation sequences themselves are what patrons enjoy most - not the complicated long-term consequences or the hassle of managing/removing mutations. With that in mind, I've reworked the transformation system to feel lighter while preserving the satisfying progression and sequence of changes.
Player Mutations
I've restructured mutations into four categories: three internal mutations that don't alter the player's external appearance, and one external mutation type that visibly changes the body. Each mutation now has unique flavor text and currently disabled effects (these will be properly balanced and activated in future updates).
Some mutations, such as feline paws, will temporarily disable certain outfits like footwear. However, they won't prevent you from equipping those items - they'll simply override the visuals and textures while active.
Types of Mutations
(The blank page on the right is emptied for upcoming pregnancy status)
There are currently ten mutations for each internal category and three for the external category (I removed or reworked several external options based on poll feedback, and more will be added in future updates).
Each double-helix DNA strand becomes more contaminated as mutations corrupt gene segments. The interface will reflect this with flavor text updates. I experimented with minor debuffs/buffs tied to contaminated strands but decided to hold off for now - there are 40 potential gene strands, and it was heavily impacting playthrough balance if 'farmed', especially with no current way to cleanse them. They will be enabled again after rebalancing.
Mutation Effects
While mutations are mostly cosmetic for now, they'll play a major role in the upcoming big update focused on player pregnancy and breeding. A "pristine" player will give birth to normal humanoid children even when impregnated by non-humans. However, if you're heavily mutated, you'll have a chance of birthing more alien or anthromorphic offspring.
New Enemies
New mutation-inflicting enemies have been added to the game! As shown on the world map, they currently only spawn or migrate within their native habitats (rivers, forests, etc.). This system will expand significantly with the addition of sub-biomes tailored to each enemy type in future updates.
Wolverines and Mermaids
Two new anthromorph variants - the wolverine and the mermaid - have been introduced. Both enemies have a special ability that stacks mutagenic points on the player. Receiving three stacks from their special attacks will trigger a mutation.
These enemies aren't aggressive by default (since many other foes already initiate combat), so they'll only fight back if provoked. This will change in future updates as I add sub-biomes and more dynamic events to increase their interaction with the protagonist. Goblins have been temporarily excluded while I rework their design to 'better fit' the upcoming pregnancy systems.
Major Update Schedule Change
After next week's update, I'll be shifting the release cadence. Instead of inconsistent small patches, I'm moving to monthly major updates that deliver cohesive, substantial content packages. Don't worry - existing content won't be neglected! Between major updates, there will be bi-weekly focused patches dedicated to improving specific areas (e.g., multiple new scripts, CG scenes, world map events, NPC interactions, etc.).
Main story updates will always count as major updates and will be released consistently.

New Community Poll: Existing Content Update Priority
As mentioned, existing content will receive regular bi-weekly updates between major releases. If it's an NPC-focused update, expect expanded scripts, new CG scenes, molest/interaction options, world map events, and much more.
Q: Which content would you like to see updated first?
Player interaction content (molest, world map events)
Jobs & Minigames (CG scenes, more minigames, etc)
Location actions & interactions
Environmental Updates (weather, location visuals, map icons, etc)
