DESCRIPTION

Hi everyone,

It’s time for the first Dev Report of the year. I hope 2026 has started well for you, despite the intense cold we’ve been dealing with lately. On the bright side, it’s the perfect excuse to stay indoors and focus on creating new content for the game.

This month was mainly dedicated to building new locations, creating environmental elements, and working on audio. So, let’s take a look at what was done.

New Sectors

All stages of new location development were completed this month — from level design to environmental details. I also worked on new VFX to better support the atmosphere of these areas. While all of the new sectors are part of the Main Labs, I made a conscious effort to give each of them unique visual elements and gameplay nuances, so they don’t feel repetitive.

Dialogue Audio Tracks

This is one of the most time-consuming and monotonous parts of development, requiring a lot of focus and attention to detail. Still, all dialogue lines for the upcoming update have been fully prepared, implemented, and provided with subtitles, ready to be used in-game.

New “Level Bridges”

Based on player feedback, I had to rethink the asynchronous level streaming system. After spending quite some time analyzing solutions that wouldn’t require a massive overhaul, I decided to implement a modified “bridge doors” system between levels.

These doors check whether the next location has finished loading before allowing the player to proceed. Yes, this requires some minor level adjustments, but they are almost invisible to the player and don’t take much time to implement. Most importantly, this completely avoids situations where the player exits a transition area only to face darkness — and fall into it.

Control Rig for Clarissa

Clarissa has now been fully rigged and prepared for the animator. Previously, I animated her directly inside Unreal Engine, but since the animator works in Blender, this meant learning and setting up rigs across different tools.

Hopefully, the upcoming animations for Clarissa will be well worth the effort.

Steam Demo

You probably already know this, but the Steam page for the game now has a demo available. Recently, Valve has been extremely thorough when reviewing 18+ titles, scrutinizing every detail they consider even remotely suspicious.

It took quite a bit of time, but I managed to meet all their requirements and get everything approved in the end.

If you decide to try the demo there, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could leave a review on Steam and add the game to your wishlist — it helps the project a lot and makes a real difference for an indie developer.

Fatal Error Issue

I know this issue affects only a very small number of players, but it has been bothering me enough that I spent a significant amount of time investigating it.If you’re experiencing this problem, I’d really appreciate your help — I’ve described what you can do in the dedicated Discord thread.

New Environmental 3D Models

As usual, new environment props were modeled this month to give the new locations their own visual identity and stronger atmosphere.

Next month will be focused on developing the logic for new spatial puzzles and adding new cutscenes.

Thank you all so much for your patience and support.

Best regards,

Kodman
