Art Summary - 2026 June 23
Progress continues slowly but surely; here's my irregularly scheduled art summary~
"Watch out! Widest birthday boy coming through!"If you make your friend a couch for his birthday, then they'll always be comfortable~(A quick bit of object show-ification fun for Joltink's birthday. And no, we don't have any plans to turn him back~)(Also featuring SgtPieman & Mato~)
This was meant to be quick and simple, but you know how that song and dance goes. ^^;
Either way, it was fun to lean into a tease and play around with object characters yet again. I think this might also be the first time I properly drew my cassette recorder form/OC, but that's a story for another time. One useful technique I plan to make use of more in the future is limited shadows for the storybook style. I'll keep experimenting with that to find the right balance~
(Don't forget to hit play on the animation~)
Watch where you step! A "helpful" mythical might decide you need a few upgrades to steady your gait.
(An experimental animated commission for Reggie and Nick666101~)
This wasn't originally planned to be an animated commission, but then I realized that a hoop TF would be a good chance to experiment with Krita's animation curve system. The only part of this that was animated (more or less) by hand was the ring. For almost everything else, I took advantage of Transform and Transparency masks to achieve these effects.
Unfortunately, Krita gets a little bit unstable when you have eight of those running at once, so there was some unplanned struggling near the end of this project. I had to take a few shortcuts in order to keep the final animation file stable enough to export, including leaving out the effects I usually add to still images. You might be able to find other rough edges if you look closely enough.
But overall, I'm pretty happy with the finished product and what I learned while making it. I'll make sure to do even better next time~
(Also, I can see why shading in cartoons is a rarity-- it's yet another level of complexity in an already-complex project that it's very hard to find the time for. ^^;)
From one lab mascot to another: If you've reached the point where you're crawling out of a pile of your former clothes, then it's probably too late to put on proper TF-resistant PPE.
Alternatively:
The reality change experiment was a smashing success! Now you just need to turn back and--
"You've completed a mission! Would you like to leave the dungeon now?"
--get back to the Guild and rest up for your next adventure~
(A TF Sequence / Anthrocon Badge commission for Seda. We couldn't settle on just one ending, so we just did them both~)
This was a relatively straightforward piece for me, but the trouble I had when drawing the ears reminded me that it's always important to break down the body parts' shapes before you start the sketching and lining processes. I'll print the badge versions later tonight:
For two-sided badges like this, I usually print them on a single sheet of card paper and glue the two halves together to ensure perfect alignment. The line on my layout is where I'll fold it to achieve that alignment. I achieve better results than the two-sided print function on my printer can by using this technique.
That's all for now. I'll check back again when I have more to share; likely right before I head out for Anthrocon at the end of the month.
