I got a bit distracted with life and stuff, but now it's time for another flurry of upcoming art posts before I get distracted with life and stuff yet again at the end of the month.
Upcoming events include moving house (hopefully for the second to last time before finding a more permanent place near the end of the year) followed very quickly by Anthrocon. I probably won't be heading to any more cons after that until next year, since I'll need to focus on finishing the comm queue ahead of Octransfur.
Gosh, time moves so strangely, doesn't it? Anyhow, here's the art I managed to finish since last time~ (I have more nearly-done stuff that I'll share soon enough, too.)
I've been sitting on this one for a while, but here's a straightforward cuddly picture (with a few alts) that I did up for Car a while back. Don't worry, he's just as huggable as he looks! Just be careful, the cuddliness might be infectious~
I did his plushie form two different ways, but I think I have a soft spot for the patterned belly. I'd love to know what you all think, though~!
Also, here's a bonus little art tip/thing I do. I moved the highlight ever so slightly between the "real" red panda and plushie versions. When the highlight overlaps the edge of the iris, it gives more of a feeling that the eye is artificial. It makes the iris look flat or printed on; which in the case of toys is what we're going for~
On a real eye there's a bump within the iris that causes that little highlight (that's actually the lens of your eye). From what I understand, that's the sparkling you can see in certain people's eyes when they speak to you. A simpler plastic eye will be more like a single curve all around, so the highlight/shine will be more generalized rather than localized around the pupils.
...Or at least that's how I understand it. There's probably a lot of nuance I'm missing out on, but it's enough to get the idea across~

Yet another one I've been sitting on for a bit too long... ^^; This one has the same outfit alt layer system I put together for Xyron's Jangmo-o ref, so there's more outfit alt possibilities than you might expect. Just a little trick that I intend to keep using in the future~
And here's the first of the pride month stream commissions, featuring the clever cookie-loving Riolu, Mato~
For me, I'm hoping to practice my lining speed while working on comms this month, so that I can draw yet more cute pictures for all of you. Looking back, there are a couple of details I could have done differently. For example, I think because of the head size I've actually drawn Mato a bit more grown-up than I normally would, but I can "correct" that in the smol direction the next time I draw/tease him so no worries there. ;3

And immediately after I said I'd try to keep my lining process quick, I get carried away making a big plushie. Go figure. But then again, that's just how it goes sometimes~ Art is all about improvisation, right?
Also naturally, when you're given a fat fur and a bear flag, you just have to go for the pun. I apologize for nothing. Plushies are just in my nature~
