At long last, the grand finale! I feel like I almost got my rhythm back many times for these last few pics. Though I also learned that I should in no means draw attention to that because that only means I'm going to fall off beat again. I'll save the statistics of the not-month as a whole for my website, but you guys here on the Patreon get to enjoy the reflection for each individual day. Plus, if you're reading this as it comes out, you're getting to see Day 31 before everyone else. Lucky you!
Day 25 - Error - I fell down a rabbit hole or two with this picture. First off, I wanted to make sure the lab felt more or less real, and it helped that including an emergency shower would add to the scenario in a great way. Secondly, Riolu is an old favorite of mine going waaaay back, but I still struggle with its legs. So that was another difficulty. Aside from that though, this was pure fun.
Day 26 - Speed - Since I'd already done something with a car for Thief, I ended up agonizing for way to long about what to do for this day. Eventually I settled on the theme of speedrunning, and then I stumbled blob-backwards into turning into a Riolu again. Whoops. At least the background was relatively straightforward (being the evolution void from Gen IV). And I got to field test a character for later~
Day 27 - Caught - I indulged in the shine again for this pic. The abstract paintings in the background were a nice diversion. Fun fact: The molecule in the purple one is called isoprene, and its polymers are the main component of natural rubber~ For the forms here, I went for maximum fluff, which conveniently translated to maximum shine as well.
Day 28 - Time - I had relative free reign on this one, but I knew I had to include Celebi. Naturally I thought of PMD, and things followed from there. Last year I outright broke a Time Gear, so I wanted to think of a whole new way to abuse them. Then I remembered the little thingies that you could use to make different size records play. And then I remembered Dark Side of the Moon. And now here we are: Time (which is indeed the single I'm holding in this picture).
Day 29 - Grass - Another long pause, another bout of indecision. After becoming a Treecko, I was sort of screwed on how to proceed for this day, and I was completely on my own for this one. Eventually I decided to just lean into my real life for this one, and maybe engage in some wish fulfillment. With the old house about to close (if things go well), that means we'll need to find some new place to stay. If only there were one just like this one. Anyhow, enough of that. Let's talk about the picture. I just went in with a loose concept of "land that turns you into a Grass-type" and let the chat figure out what species the actors would be. I landed on Chespin, lowkey one of my favorite Pokémon, but one that doesn't make for great mid-TF. Still, we pulled it off in the end~ The station wagon is a Volvo, by the way.
Day 30 - Shadow -(Update: The timelapse is now ready, so I've added the link) For this one, I just wanted to have fun with ghosts, that simple~ It helps that Gengar is known for its shadows, and Darren was a natural fit for this day. Gengar's cuteness is vastly underrated. And for those keeping count, that's three Rotom Dexes this not-month. I know what I'm about.
Day 31 - Permanent - This is the one picture that I actually had an idea for before even starting Octransfur. I have literally been sitting on this idea for five months (And I just realized Octransfur took me five months. That's embarrassing... ^^;). It's that old Channel Chasers logic. If you're on TV, you'll never grow up~ Or... never change. Honestly I just wanted an excuse to do more style imitation of shows I used to love, and this was the perfect vehicle to do that and tease some friends. I'm particularly happy with the subtle background details~ I really ought to try animation more seriously some time.
And that's Octransfur finally over (apart from the timelapses and publicly posting Day 31). I'm going to try not to screw up again next year. As much as I love making these full pictures, I know it's unsustainable for a timed event. I'll try to put limits in next year (even though I know I will ignore them). Anyhow, thanks for your patience. Here's to great things to come~
