In 2020, Steve Garcia118 approached me about collaborating on a Mid Sodor Railway Mini Series.
The idea was that Duke, Cora, Sir Handel, and Peter Sam would tell stories to the other Skarloey Railway engines, where they would sometimes have quips and commentary to what was going on. Stanley played a big role in the early episodes, and by the end of episode 3, we would introduce Andreas the Express Engine.
I believe Andreas was a character created by Wild Nor Wester. I don't know too much about the character, but his design is cool. He was intended to be a Gordon / Sir Handel type that would become a bad influence on Falcon.
I enjoyed writing these 3 episodes, but a lack of time and energy prevented the series from seeing the light of day. I wasn't able to film it, and the production would've taken a lot of effort and resources to execute. I also think we were both spread kind of thin in our own projects and lives. (Plus, it was the pandemic. It's not like it was easy for people to meet and collaborate, or even have leaps and bounds of energy!)
I just read through them all again. In my opinion, they held up a lot better than I thought! I have a feeling Luke Ryan and Tardisrescue gave me some advice on how to execute a few of these ideas.
The pandemic was an awful time for everyone, but I guess it did give me a lot of time to practice as a writer, even if it wasn't always for my own projects. I'm glad Steve approached me on this! Sometimes you hit a wall and you find a new, brighter path.
