I get asked about food a lot and Boy Do I Love Gabbing About That so please excuse the unnecessarily long lore drop:
Given the scale of animals, chicken eggs would be impractically large for most folks to keep whole in the fridge, so blended tends to be the most economical option if you're looking for bird eggs.
REPTILES ON THE OTHER HAND frequently produce clutches of itty bitty eggs. Most animals in real life will eat the hell out of some egg--they're nature's nutrient bombs, what's not to love??--but in the context of this setting, reptile eggs with their very un-bird-like consistency would (at least in North America, where the comic is set) have more of a niche appeal that carnivorous-leaning preds tend to appreciate the most.
(Many thanks to Demonremix for letting me use your snake eggs idea, I'm beside myself with grief at having drawn this. 10/10)
