I wasn't a gigantic fan of this cartoon (and comic) when it came out.
Now going back to it...

Look, you have to understand, back in the day, cartoons were kind of trash. and this one probably went through several filters to make it appropriate for kids, then it was translated, then another puritanical filter to get to an American audience because they needed to fill a time slot, I'm sure. And I'm still shocked how damn sexy this show is.
