DESCRIPTION

Hey guys! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and having a good time with friends and family. This month's tutorial will be covering one of the more obscure subjects with Redshift + Houdini, the Redshift procedural workflows. There is very little information about these new workflows. Even the older render time procedural workflows are obscure but can have a major impact on your render times or when working with different file formats on disk without actually extracting them from the scene itself.

Redshift in Houdini currently supports the Redshift Proxy, the Alembic Procedural, and the USD Procedural as direct render time procedurals. But there are also ways to make VDBs work strictly as render time procedurals along with other Houdini-specific file types like Bgeo. Using these in a render-time procedural way can save you a lot of time once you are done building your assets and are now in the render, shading, lighting, or layout stages of your project; especially if you are mass-instancing assets.

This tutorial will be available on January 5th, including 3x 16k high-altitude cirrus HDR maps for people to enjoy as a holiday gift to all my Patrons. Thank you for all the support and have a wonderful new years!
