Proof of Life #323: The very last objective of HC3’s Main Quest.
DESCRIPTION

Hey, hey, hey, ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing on this fine morning/afternoon/evening?

Here’s N_taii with his “casual and friendly” tone (as described by the AI), here to bring you another report of my work on HC3~

So, development’s going fine. The extra scene has been completed, I’ve tested it too, and all the animations have been added as well. I’ve also proceeded to add the last story segment before the very last part of the update, which is comprised entirely of cutscenes. That means I essentially added the last objective of HC3’s main storyline ever into the Quest Journal not 30 minutes ago. I felt a slight pinch in my heart, but hey, that means we’re getting there ^^

I also wanted to address something that’s proven rather controversial in recent years: the use of AI in game development.

I am personally of the opinion that AI is best used as an assistant to help with the creative process by taking care of the boring tasks, not to supersede it. It is merely an opinion, not a declaration of war, and I would please ask people to refrain from starting a war in the comments. Stating your opinion is completely okay; fighting is not.

Anyway, I’ve started using AI in development too, and I wanted to go over what AI helps with to be completely honest with you:

1) It fixes grammatical mistakes as well as typos.

I basically run a full dialogue box through the AI and it fixes the basic mistakes. It will sometimes, albeit very rarely, suggest stylistic improvements when my sentence is particularly clunky, stuff like replacing “could be heard” with “was audible,” which helps the sentence flow better.

What it doesn’t do is write for me. I don’t like the AI’s style anyway; it's too verbose. I think I’ve only gone with one of the AI’s suggestions to write about a third of a dialogue box because I couldn’t think of a good way to write what I wanted in English.

Anyway, it's a huge time saver since I spend less time rechecking everything, and it makes my writing a bit more polished with fewer typos. Also, it fixes my PoLs for me.

2) Nothing else, really.

I’ve tried to use it to change the color of some environmental assets, and it failed pretty much every time except for one marble column, until it finally gave up and told me it couldn’t do it. There might have been another way to go about it, but I didn’t care enough to check.

Back to development now! All that’s left is the last scene of the game, some narrative stuff, and freeroam events + the last mini-story with the guards. I’m still aiming for a June release, but I can’t make any promises yet. The last segment of the update will need new maps, and the freeroams or the last scene might take longer than expected. Rushing the final update is certainly not something I want to do. If it's not out by late June, it’ll be out by early July at the latest.

That’s it! I’ll see you next Monday~

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful week!
