Here's another couple of relatively quick pieces, I hope you like them! :)
The alien girl is the one I painted first. Wanted to revisit a character from an earlier doodle. The double nipple idea stuck with me a bit I guess lol. I should maybe have kept her outfit on though, since it made her design look more striking. Lesson learned... hopefully. :)
Before moving on to painting the elf and her red friend I spent a few days experimenting with a painting method that feels pretty efficient. It leans more on using fully opaque solid brush strokes in the early part of the process. It's another one of those "limitations that force good habits" that I go on about sometimes. The solid brush strokes prevent me from rendering things and are meant to make me more mindful of exactly what values and colors I put down and their relation to each other. I feel pretty optimistic about this painting method right now, and I'm eager to apply it to more paintings. Hopefully I'll have more opinions to share about it down the line. :)
I gotta admit I started that second piece with no specific idea in mind, so I'm sort of wagging my finger at myself here. Ideally I want to start with at least a theme or design in mind that I want to illustrate. But I've struggled a bit with an inspiration drought recently, and I suppose my mind was more fixated on giving the painting method a proper try. So I ended up just diving in hoping to loosen up whatever's clogging up my inspiration. 😅 It still turned into something I'm happy with, and out of all the quick pieces I've been doing recently, this one's probably the one I've learned the most useful things from. So I can't complain!
