The new Graphic User Interface (GUI, 'Gooey', there, the joke has been explained; moving on.) is up and ready for users to rip it to shreds and be like, "I liked it better when it was ugly" and all that. But not you guys. You guys are the good ones.
This is a comprehensive UI update with some visual overhaul mixed in, but it's mostly about functionality and user experience. We have added almost every quality of life upgrade that has been requested by the userbase over the last two years, plus a few more that I added because I felt like it. And if there's something here that screams, "Hey, if we can do this now, then why can't we do this other thing?" then do please let me know in the comments or on Discord. As always, I plan about two weeks of development time to respond to bugs and issues with all new releases, so right now is the best time to get your voices heard for an immediate impact... once development starts on the next version, you'll need to wait a while to get your feature implemented.

And... that's it. Since this update is half of the originally planned update, all of the planning for the next one is actually finished... you can check over the old log posts to see what it will be, but we'll be looking at a comprehensive update on the prologue (pre-first death), the early life content, and the quest system. Once that's finished, it's onward to the Academy.
Finally, and I know that you may be getting pelted with activism right now, I want to address the censorship on Steam and Itch. As of this writing, Rewind has not been taken down by Itch (and we're not yet on Steam... though I had planned to put the game up for wish-listing in the near future), but the community of adult games has been hit very hard by the most recent strikes from payment processors Visa and Mastercard (and their partnered platforms like Stripe). If you're familiar with this, then you can stop reading, but you never know if someone has been out of the loop for the last few weeks, so I'll give a quick rundown: About three weeks ago, Steam added a new content rule (rule 15) stating that all games on their platform must adhere to the content policies of their major payment providers (that being Visa and Mastercard). Along with that rule change, Steam removed roughly 300 existing games related to topics not allowed on Patreon.
In and of itself, this was jarring for the community. Sudden changes in content policy never sit well with anyone who relies on storefronts to pay their bills and feed their families... and games that had been carefully crafted to maintain viability on Steam had the rug pulled out from under them. Yet defending the more unsavory topics in adult games is a bit of a hard sell... so the outcry was limited to our very segmented portion of the internet.
Then the processors went after Itch.io. And man, shit hit the fan. Itch is a small operation with limited human and financial resources, so in order to comply with demands from their processors (Visa and Mastercard working through Stripe), they were forced to immediately hide all adult content on their storefront (the term used was 'delisting'... meaning that the games were no longer visible in organic search results and needed to be accessed directly from known links, like a private youtube video). Not only did this remove all of the adult content, it also had collateral damage in the LGBT space, the stories of assault survival and auto-biographical space, and pretty much anything with overly mature themes (sexual or not). Finally, some of the people arguing that Steam removing content they already didn't like wasn't that big a deal could see that puritanical censorship was a much larger problem.
This brings me to the crux of this issue. A private duopoly has imposed censorship in a way that circumvents the powers of elected officials in the USA and worldwide. They have made it known that they are aware of their power and intend to use it to impose their own private opinion upon the wallets of the entire world, and this simply isn't an acceptable power for them to wield. No matter your political bent, I believe that we can all agree that legal purchases should be free of intervention by private interests. Be those purchases porn, guns, alcohol, fireworks, or any other item or service that some people may not agree is 'good'. Visa and Mastercard, along with their subordinate organizations like Stripe, must be held to standards above the buffoonery of the present.
I don't want to take up any more space talking about this issue, so go here: https://stop-paypros.neocities.org/
Cheers!
