Hi guys, I know it's been a long bit since my last log, so I apologize. I've been holding off until I had a sprinkling of images to give you.
The writing and programming for this update is largely finished, but there's a LOT of rendering to do. I've expanded the prologue (the portion of the game that happens in modern time with the protagonist before he becomes Liam). This includes a minor alteration to some lore regarding the Rewind ability, but pretty much only so that I can force him into going through the full day twice instead of throwing him into the 7-second time loop immediately. Along with that, I added in lots of characters that took way too much time to make, since they're only in the game for five minutes, but whatever. It's a first impression, so it's important. And, finally, I've shown some of the aftermath of the player's initial death. I've also given the Goddess of Time a more neutral first impression of the protagonist... he can ruin that in time.
General work log:- Writing (90% complete... need to re-write temple sections to remove mentions of it being unfinished, and probably some other inconsistencies that will be found in testing)- Rendering (25% complete... the office scenes required a lot of modeling and set work)Rendering To-Do:- Office scenes (finished)- Miss Kitty scenes (finished)- Park girls (in progress)- Liam is born- Liam speaks- Meeting Marla & Bess- Meeting Ronny- Lani has her first growth phase- Liam's first story- Storytime time progressions- Ronny dies- Lani ceremony- Marla ceremony (rehash of previous, probably sprite-only)- Liam ceremony (cinematic)- Lani falls from the tree- Lani finds a box- Mom introduces corn to baby Liam (may be cut for time, or just use sprites)- Hoping to add in another changing room scene, since I have some new outfits to put into the game.Character Work To-Do:- Create sprites for age progressions.
It's a long list, but a lot of these are simple one-off scenes that really only have between 2 and 6 rendered images (and may be left as sprite-only conversations if I start to be strapped for time). The biggest time sink that I'm going to experience is the remaking of the Temple complex... I've decided the general plan for the outside, and the inside is only going to be single-room scenes, so I don't need to make a full 360 degree environment, but it'll still take a while.
And of course, I've added in some foreshadowing. I absolutely hate it when writers working on a serialized story change things when fans figure out their plans, so I'm totally committed to my plot points on this one (I think they're good; there's no reason to change it just because you guys figure it out). Some are pretty obvious for returning players, but some are probably a bit too deep until more of the story is written. I'll be interested how much you guys can figure out.
As always, thanks for supporting the game. Cheers!
