Migrating from Per Creation to Subscription Billing in June

DESCRIPTION

Hi folks!

Earlier this year, Patreon notified all of us who are on Per Creation model of Patreon that we will be required to switch to a subscription model by October 2026. I decided to go ahead and start the switch the week of June 8, 2026. While I would have preferred to avoid any disruption to my page, I do think that the subscription model is generally a better approach as it removes some confusion people tend to have around Per Creation - I've had some complaints of people thinking they were overcharged when Patreon charged them for more than just the one release they thought they were signing up for, as an example. Subscription model provides some needed clarity and consistency. The subscription model would also allow me a greater freedom to create more varying posts vs having to stick to the paid post format every month.

That being said, not much will change for any of you who are already signed up. So long as you stay subscribed, your billing will stay pretty much exactly the same. You will continue to be billed on the first, you will continue to be billed the same amount as your were before - whether you limited your pledge or not.

The only real thing that will change for you is past the week of June 8th, you will no longer be able to limit your pledge amount, and if you cancel your membership, and want to sign up again, you won't be able to keep the old pricing.

The new pricing of my tiers will be something like the following (though this still might change):

Gem - $6/month

Gold - $11/month

Full Access - $16/month

Diamond - $35/month

Since it is probably not clear why I decided on this pricing, I wanted to give a little bit of a background to how I came up with these numbers. The new pricing reflects the average amount people pledge to my Patreon already. While for some of you who limit your pledge to 1 release a month the new pricing will be higher (though you will be able to keep your old pricing so long as you stay subbed), this new pricing won't actually give me a higher earnout. If anything, it might be even a little bit lower. I am a little bit worried about a sticker shock for new Patrons, as $6 is definitely more than $3... but I can't keep the pricing as $3, $5 and $7 a month, as I risk losing half of my income once enough Patrons churn over.

If you would like to make changes to your membership, it’s easy to modify the amount of membership within this tier or to switch to another one that I offer. Below are guides to help you do this:

Changing your tier

Increasing your payment amount

I hope that this is not going to be a huge disruption for you all - as I said, I would have preferred to avoid the change, but it is not in my control. I hope that this change will make things more clear and consistent for everyone though!

Thanks for your understanding as I make this change. I wanted to inform all of the members now to provide plenty of time to make any adjustments before this takes effect on the week of June 8th. Please reach out if you have any questions.
