Migrating from Per Creation to Subscription Billing in June - Pricing Change for New Patrons

DESCRIPTION

Hi folks!

Earlier this year, Patreon notified all of us who are on Per Creation model of Patreon that we will be required to switch to a subscription model by October 2026. I decided to go ahead and start the switch the week of June 8, 2026. While I would have preferred to avoid any disruption to my page, I do think that the subscription model is generally a better approach as it removes some confusion people tend to have around Per Creation - I've had some complaints of people thinking they were overcharged when Patreon charged them for more than just the one release they thought they were signing up for, as an example. Subscription model provides some needed clarity and consistency. The subscription model would also allow me a greater freedom to create more varying posts vs having to stick to the paid post format every month.

While this will have a minimal effect on the current Patrons, new paid members will have new pricing starting the week of June 8th, 2026. This means that for this coming month, if you are not a Patron, you can still sign up to all of my current tiers (which will be retired come June). You can still limit your pledge to whatever you are comfortable with, and you will be able to keep this current pricing even after the change is done. For example, the current pricing for Full Access Tier is $7 per creation. I release 4 paid posts a month, which means you can limit this pledge to 1, 2, or 3 releases without losing access to the rewards. You will then pay $7, $14, $21 a month respectively (or $28 if you do not limit your pledge at all).

How to limit your pledge on Patreon.

The new pricing starting the week of June 8, 2026 is going to be something like this (though it might still change):

Gem - $6/month

Gold - $11/month

Full Access - $16/month

Diamond - $35/month

Since it is probably not clear why I decided on this pricing, I wanted to give you a little bit of a background to how I came up with these numbers. This new pricing won't actually give me a higher earnout. If anything, it might be even a little bit lower because I am a little bit worried about sticker shock for new Patrons, as $6 is definitely more than $3... but I can't keep the pricing as $3, $5 and $7 a month, as I risk losing half of my income once enough Patrons churn over. These new tier prices reflect roughly the average of how much Patrons already pledge per their respective tiers.

Thanks for your understanding as I make this change. I wanted to inform all of the members now to provide plenty of time to make any adjustments before this takes effect on the week of June 8th. Please reach out if you have any questions.
