A lot has happened in-world over the last 15 or so years, and it's about time for Arcadia to get a facelift.
How often ought we update maps? The answer is subjective, but I think the sweet spot between effort and reward is to do updates only during periods of relative peace and calm. If borders are changing, or cities being razed, let's just wait for the dust to settle before we redo it.
What has changed
Oh boy, where do we start?
16 towns / cities destroyed in Eridon, 6 of which have some level of continued or resettled habitations, and 1 more being the entrance to an underground dwarven realm sitting at the back of ruins. On the bright side, there's a big new road connecting Highcastle and Stromhiem.
2 towns / cities destroyed in Mahtava. One of which has already been reclaimed by The Overgrowth.
9 towns / cities destroyed in Drekkis (new spelling in effect). Only 3 of those have been reclaimed or reused, with Bridge Gate being nothing more than a military outpost at a bridge. The road north of Krushwikk has fallen into serious disrepair now that Mahtava has been brought under the heal and can serve as a far more effecient way of transporting goods.
6 towns / cities destroyed in Mistrya. None reclaimed. On the bright side, there's now a road connecting Evermond and Halfhill, and the huge bridge over Lake Edrick has been fixed. Both courtesy of the good king Imrik.
Eleven forest is torched. All core settlements gone. Walshin and Theydin Lod were mixing pots where non-elves could visit or do business, and as such had more standard building. These places have been abandoned by their creators, but aren't really ruins.
Akuba is chillin.
Gold Hill is no more. And with the huge amount of wealth already in coinage and more critical supplies in short supply there's no hurry to revisit it. Those mines are deep and ruined. They would cost a fortune to reopen.
Oh, and docks have been added. The point was to call out towns / cities that have decent facilities, but that's pretty much every place at sea level right now, so it feels unnecessary at this time. Let's just hope that nothing bad happens to this land and those docks start to disappear.
