Sorcerer Class

Cleric Class

Here are the custom classes for our characters in Floating Fortress. These documents should tell you almost everything you need to know about the characters. The critical missing sections are the spell lists, which are mostly complete, but that I want to slow roll on our players.

Sometimes mechanics are best known ahead of time, and sometimes you can have fun mini-games where mechanics are discovered. Discovering mechanics only works once, and only work if there is fun interplay. If it turns out the slow rolling the spell lists is less fun for the PCs, I'll show them the whole list right up front, but until them I'm going to only reveal what they know and let the future be uncertain.

If you're an extremely enterprising viewer, there are some VODs up on my twitch page that deal with creating these classes, including making of the spells. Good luck in finding them.

These classes should be fully done, but there's always a small chance that I realize something is off and it needs to be adjusted, so let's call these 98% finished.

To make them, I spent a lot of time looking at the Skills and Powers, and the Spells and Magic books, and trying to find a nice balance in power. One of the big problems with MP as a tool is that some lower-level spells can be OP if you just use them over and over. Take Magic Missile, for example. If you can cast 100 of those in a day, you'd be an insanely powerful mage! It's an amazing combat power. Spell slots help get around the overcasting of one spell. To get around that, for our Sorcerers, I came up with what I think is a clever solution that mixes mechanics and lore in just the right way. To resolve that for the Clerics has been more tricky. Having powers that aren't locked behind spell-slots or MP and are true at will abilities is pretty tough. They need to be strong enough to be fun and useful, but designed in such a way that they don't break the world. I'm still working on finalizing cleric spells.
