Mortimer is my character in Shadowdark, I posted about him here before

As I've continued playing this monster of a Foxfolk, I've had a blast & I've built on his past further.

So here are a series of images I've made of him in my love for this campaign & character.

Pic 1:

This is The Fool Tarot card of Mortimer, I've always wanted to do a tarot card pic & the medieval vibe of our Shadowdark game felt like the perfect time to do it.

So I chose The Fool card for Mortimer cause The Fool reversed suits his character. And completely basing his tarot card off of a real tarot cart was fun X3

Pic 2 & 3:

I made this pic to figure out exactly where Mortimer's front scars are and what specifically caused them.

As I mentioned before Mortimer was a slaver who's slaves rebelled against him and escaped his clutches. But a group of them wanted retribution against the Fox.

So they chained him down with heated chains, they stabbed him, beat him with his own flail which ripped his skin off in chunks & they poured melted metal on his face and got some on his chest as well. Disfigured & bones broken, Mortimer was left looking like a corpse.

The Slaves left him, fearing the fire they caused would attract the law to them so they ran away believing Mortimer was dead. Mortimer was found by 2 kind old healers who knew nothing of his wicked ways. They healed him as best as they could. Mortimer now lives with a constant reminder of those who tried to kill him. He wants to make them regret not killing him.

Pic 4:

This pic of Mortimer showcases his scars from behind as well the darkness that looms with him, since he has a demon he can use the strength of in battle shown through the red glow in his eye. Despite Mortimer's desire for revenge for his broken body he lives by the phrase "Vae Victis" which means "woe to the conquered"

He believes that because he was defeated, it was fair he was maimed. But he also believes that if he defeats the ones who wronged him, that gives him the right to decided their fate then.

(Mortimer in the present time is in his late 40s early 50s, so he's very set in his ways)

Pic 5:

This pic depicts Mortimer in his 30's, by this time he was running his family business & was very accustomed to all of his responsibilities.

Pic:6

This pic depicts Mortimer at the age of 17, he was a cocky, suave, romantic who wanted to free the love of his life (Who was a young slave he fell for as a kid whom his family sold to a nasty human man) Despite the human having married the woman he loved he made an agreement to purchase her from him.

So Mortimer took a year to build up the money to free his love, he left his family expecting to return with the woman he loved, but when he arrived she was dead & the nasty human had claimed she offed herself during the year he was gone. Mortimer didn't believe him & slipped into a blind rage. He killed the man and everyone in the small town, believing everyone had stood by and let his love die.

Mortimer changed after that night, no longer having light in his heart, just darkness.

Pic 7:

This pic depicts Mortimer as a young child.

While his mother loved his soft nature, his father did not.

This pic shows why Mortimer hides his face with the style of mask he does in the future. The Doll purposely looks like Slagar the Cruel from Redwall, the main inspiration for my character.

.........

I know this post isn't like my usual ones, but my foxfolk man has been occupying my brain for a while so I thought I'd share with you guys the pics of him <3
