"After plenty of pleading, Judy finally convinces her younger sister, Riley, to take her to Paw & Maw, the swallow-themed studio where she works. As Judy's fascination with the world of swallow-themed has grown, she and her husband have become devoted fans of several of the studio's performers, and she can't resist the chance to see the place for herself.
The reception area is surprisingly polished, if a little unsettling. Along one wall sits a series of glass trophy cases displaying the cleaned and mounted skulls of former prey actors, each accompanied by a plaque commemorating their "final performance." Judy gives the exhibit a distracted glance before signing the extensive consent forms required for entry.
Despite Riley's warnings, Judy slips away in search of her husband's favorite actor, hoping to surprise him with an autograph. Unfortunately, he isn't alone. The two performers greet their unexpected admirer with warm smiles and offer to continue the meet-and-greet somewhere more private, leading the eager fan toward one of the studio's darker unused rooms."
A few variants at the front, some of which I can't post here, followed by 2 finishing illustrations! Pick your poison; I personally think the most canonical one is 'Nervous', with the assumption that they DO spit her out at the end. But I mean... that's up to Jace really...
I know I promised Layouts for the next few pages! And I promise I worked on them a BUNCH last week. But I ran into frustrating roadblocks: I spent too much time rewriting, collecting my reference material, and then, after a bunch of work, realized that the first page that I was REALLY struggling with was like... 9 panels and needs to be split into two pages.
I decided on Thursday that I needed a break and started drawing up a Jace swallowing Judy, for funsies (Last time we saw Jace, he'd swallowed one of the hopps-cousins...)! Then I... got carried away, in a big way, ha. I worked on this series ALL weekend, and while I think it DOES look a little rushed, I'm really proud of what I was able to squeeze out in such a short time.
Really a joy to revisit Paw & Maw. Love getting to give Riley some more backstory. I really dig the idea that as Judy and Nick's Swallow/Cuck fetishes have grown, so have Judy's 'subtle' suggestions to Riley that she ought to invite her to the studio. It's fun to me too to think that, while Jace might be a bit of a Himbo, there are others at the studio with more of a villainous streak to them =D BJ's to push 'em down? Somehow, this scratches a real itch.
This week I'm back on the layouts, and sending you all thanks for the patience; I want to be working on the next page - but getting the layouts feeling 'right' and spreading out a page into two is really important to the whole comic feeling professional and good 💪
