Just wanted to drop a quick update and say that the next few weeks on the Patreon are going to be quiet, but it's all good news. In fact, I just managed to hit a big, dramatic deadline! Please imagine me sliding through a shrinking window on my ass with the velocity and poise of an avatar in a looter shooter.
The deadline was this: All of the footage for the season 2 finale is now in the mail to my editor, so she's going to be able to put the whole thing together while I fly out of the UK for two back-to-back work trips. One trip is Quinns Quest-related, the other is actually for a People Make Games documentary!
If you've never seen my People Make Games work, BOY HOWDY do I have some links for you. You could look at my exploration into VR Chat, which today is more popular than ever. There was the time I went to Wasteland Weekend (one of the happiest memories of my life), or my heavy investigation on the resurgence of government wargaming (the most demanding script I've ever written). Or there was my investigation into jubensha, which is actually what put me on Dropout's radar when Sam Reich watched it.
People Make Games is a dream gig for a journalist. If I ever spot anything around the world that catches my eye, I can pitch the team and they'll help me thread together a video on it. But actually, when Quinns Quest took off I had to put my PMG work on the backburner. I just didn't have time.
I'm actually finding myself relieved to have found a slip of time to be working with them again. It's not just that I'm proud of my People Make Games work, I actually feel a kind of... ache in my soul when I imagine all those stories just not being told? I dunno if you guys know this, but really talented people are doing magnificently weird gaming shit all over the planet? Like all the time??
So yes, it'll be a quiet few weeks on the Patreon. But worry not! After Season 2 Episode 6 releases, I'm planning on doing something like a month of chonky Patreon content. I just wanna hang out with you guys again. And Sinister Benefactors, my Campaign Diaries will make up for the lost time, I promise. 🙏 You guys saw my Bluesky post on a player coming back as my PC's dad!? Yeah. I need to talk about that horror show.
