Waiha Bushi is a Shin Minyo (new/modern folk song) written and composed by folk singer Unchiku Narita, with Shamisen accompaniment arranged by the legendary Takahashi Chikuzan. The word “Waiha” comes from the Tsugaru dialect and is an expression used when reacting with surprise.

今回は青森県の民謡「ワイハ節」のレッスン動画です。
ワイハ節は民謡歌手の成田雲竹さんが作詞作曲した新民謡。三味線の伴奏は高橋竹山さんが付けました。「ワイハ」と言うのは津軽弁の驚いた時の方言です。

Tuning - to adjust the pitch of the Shamisen
Honchoshi - the tuning with the first string in C, the second string in F, and the third string in C. The base note on the first string can be other notes than C, but the balance between the three strings remains the same
Oshibachi - to slide/push bachi across two strings next to each other, for example from the 1st to 2nd string or the 2nd to 3rd string to produce sound
Uchi - to produce sound through striking the string with left hand fingers
Hajiki - to pull off a string with index/ring finger of your string-hand to produce sound
Tsubo - positions on Sao (shamisen neck) that indicate where to hold strings with the string-hand fingers to determine musical scale of sound
Chiri-tere - a phrase that is played through Tsubo position 4300 with combination of Sukui and Hajiki
Suri - to slide across Tsubo on a string with index/ring finger to produce a sliding sound
調弦 - 三味線の音程を調整すること
本調子 - 一の糸をドにしたときに、二の糸がファ、三の糸がドになる調弦。一の糸をド以外にすることもあるが、三本の音の関係は変わらない
押し撥 （おしばち） - １の糸から２の糸、または２の糸から３の糸というように、隣り合わせいる糸から糸へバチをスライドさせて音を出すこと
うち - 左手の指で糸を打つことで音を出す奏法
はじき - 左手の人差し指や薬指でで糸を弾いて音を出すこと
ツボ - 音程を決めるために左手の指で弦を押さえる棹(さお) の場所のこと。１~２０まである
チリテレ - 4300のツボでスクイやはじきを組み合わせたフレーズの名前
すり - 左手の人差し指や薬指で糸をスライドさせて音を出すこと
