RESULTS ARE IN! 2025 Learn Shamisen TAIKAI Feedback [And Winner!] -- 大会 2025 | 結果

Thank you to everyone who submitted entries for the Learn Shamisen Competition 2025.

In the Performer’s Choice Division, we were delighted by the wide variety of song selections—it was truly a joy to listen to each performance. In the Tsugaru Jongara Bushi Kyokubiki Division, we received many high-level performances that really stood out.

Even if you did not participate this time, the results are enjoyable to watch and full of inspiration, so we hope everyone takes a look!

「Learn Shamisen大会2025」にたくさんのご応募をいただきありがとうございました。

「自由曲部門」ではそれぞれバラエティーに富んだ選曲で演奏を聴いていてとても楽しかったです。「曲弾き部門」ではレベルの高い演奏が集まりました。

Vocabulary List

Maebachi - to strike bachi at upper shamisen body (closer to neck) to produce a change in sound dynamics and rhythm 

Ushirobachi - to strike bachi at the lower part of shamisen body (closer to the Koma)  to produce a change in sound dynamics and rhythm

Kawa - the ‘skinned’ part of the shamisen’s main body that is struck with Bachi

Sukui -  producing sound through upstroke of the bachi

Tuning - to adjust the pitch of the Shamisen

Kyokubiki - performing a piece on the shamisen alone, with no singing - Tsugaru Jongara Bushi is often referred to as ‘Kyokubiki’

Otoawase - to tune and synchronize rhythm at the beginning of a song. There are songs that has not Oto-awase as well

Bachizuke - to create rhythm by using Maebachi and Ushirobachi

前撥（まえばち） - 三味線の胴の前の方 [棹（さお）に近い方] で音を出すこと

後ろ撥（うしろばち）- 三味線の胴の後ろの方 [駒（こま）に近い方] で音を出すこと

皮（かわ）- 三味線の胴に張られている白い部分。動物性の本皮と合皮がある

スクイ - おろしたバチを糸の下から上に向かってすくい上げて音を出すこと

調弦 - 三味線の音程を調整すること

曲弾き（きょくびき） - 唄が入らず三味線だけで1曲演奏すること

音合わせ（おとあわせ）- 曲の最初にその曲のリズムをとりながら音を合わせること。音合わせがある曲とない曲がある

バチ付け - 前撥・後ろ撥を使ってリズムを出すこと
