Wanted to finish this little thing quickly before moving on with Easter artwork, was working on it in parallel with 4skin Day art and thought it's better to get over with it while I'm in a mood. It's been forever since the last time I paid any attention to Vincent Frame, probably the most forgotten OC of mine, even worse than Kit Nightly, although he is a great character with good potential. All I did so far is a single thing which is more like just a first proof of concept and if you go deep down my Patreon history there's also a more elaborate work I teased here and it was almost done but I stuck with unfinished extra animations and this project got shelved forever.
Hard to believe it was SO long ago in 2024! I swear one day I just have to finish it because this work was too good to gone to waste.Anyway, fortunately this one is simpler and doesn't need any alts so I can consider it complete and ready to be published. Similar to this abandoned project which I planned to call "Vincent's Fun Anatomy" this one parodies surreal aducational games for early 90s PCs, I like to imagine Vincent being a titular character of an educational games series and being involved in all sorts of sciences such as anatomy, geography, math, zoology, history, art etc where each has a similar title like "Vincent's Fun Anatomy", "Vincent's Fun Geography" and so on with the word FUN always stylized the same way as shown here. I still see Vincent as a physical character in my OC universe who can interact with other characters though, his presence in games is more like being an actor in a movie but in a bit more metaphysical way. Just as I did previously, I tried to emulate the graphics of old 90s PCs. I'm not an expert in this regard but I know it wasn't very restrictive, the main thing is that they used 800x600 screen resolution and 256 colors. Not sure if there's anything else I don't know about but I think it looks pretty genuine already. That's it! Maybe one day I'll do something much dirtier with Vincent because he deserves his fair share of horniness too besides all that sophisticated artsy stuff. And yeah, it's not all. I also got a bit carried away playing with font making recently, mainly adapting several retro fonts to NES standards. It was just too much fun and it can eventually come in handy in my game projects or just regular pixel art.The first 3 fonts named Sinaloa, Sonora and Mindano were made in late 70s by Swiss designer Rosmarie Tissi, Sinaloa was super popular up until late 80s and can be even seen in few video games, it's one of my most favorite old fonts and it's actually the first one from that butch I redrew in pixels and then just couldn't stop. Her other fonts are less popular but I think they're still cool. The 4th font Lombok is also made by her in 2021 as she is still active as a designer. The next two fonts Bifur and Broadway Regular are old too but the rest four are modern, one is some random font named Digital Ninja, the next one called Dnevnik is some modern take on a classic lightbulb font and the last two are some fonts I found among stock images which don't even have actual names or authors specified so I couldn't find them as .fnt files. I just thought they're cool and would fit 8-bit aesthetics very nicely.I tried to make it as faithful to the original designs yet memory saving for NES as I can, so most fonts are 2x2 tile sized and rely on reusing same elements when it's possible. And yeah, as you can see by the screenshots in the end I tested four of these fonts on emulator already, CRT effect looks good on them, especially the lightbulb one. Now I shared everything I wanted and can finally focus on Easter artwork! There's not much time left so I hope I'll manage to do it in time.
