Based off of my previous experiment with making a custom Whitemane model, this time I wanted to try start basically from scratch, to see what I could do if I didn't have to worry about preserving the original mesh/textures/rig.
I started with a plain WoW human model as a base, and then remeshed it, which basically flattens it into a sculpting-friendly solid mass, but it also destroys a lot of the original detailing, including the textures. From there, I gradually sculpted her body and face into a unique model, trying to roughly match her proportions in Whitemane's Inquisition.
Considering I've never sculpted a 3D character before, I think the results are pretty good, but I have no idea if this model will actually end up being usable. Even with the sculpt done, there are still several steps left before I can use this model in a game:
Retopology: Basically, this involves making a second, lower poly version of the model with more conscientious placement of polygons, and then shrink-wrapping it over this model. The retopologized model will be the one that gets textured, rigged, and animated. It's also during retopology that I plan to add missing elements and finer details, such as hair, eyelashes, and anal/vaginal/oral cavities.
Texturing: I don't know how much of the original texture for Whitemane can be modified and re-used to work on this model, or if I'll need to redo the textures entirely from scratch. Either way, my goal is to preserve the WoW art style for the model's texture.
Rigging: Though I have the original WoW human rig, I'm not sure if there's much of a point to re-using when I can make a rig from scratch specifically to match the model. Either way I'd need to add new bones to account for things like breast/butt bounce and vaginal/anal spreading.
Customization/Clothes/Shape Keys: I'm not too familiar with the details of this step right now. I sculpted my model without clothes with the hope that I can make clothes that will fit on top of the model after retopologizing it. Similarly, I can theoretically use shape keys to make parts of her body customizable, such as breast size. I'll figure out exactly what I can achieve here when I get to it.
Do note that I've never done a full 3D character development process before, and this is all new to me. It's totally possible that I get halfway through and realize the model is for some reason unworkable or that I'm just out of my depth doing something so complex on my first attempt. Even if that happens, I'll at least have gotten a good bit of practice from trying.
