Okay, I am late posting last month's Species winner — while I got it done in time and posted it over on Discord, I got distracted by the end of the Kickstarter and forgot to post it here. But!
Last month's supporter poll winner was the Rakhasi species! A group of Rakshasa-kin or lesser Rakshasas, which live in isolated clans and only sometimes eat the people who wander into their domains. This one was a lot of fun, even if it's nothing groundbreaking or wild. It just aims to be a good mechanical encapsulation of the concept.
The universal features are Deception proficiency, claws (finesse, 1d6), and limited magic resistance. That's reused from my Ruin-touched, and I think worked very well then and now: a few uses per day of advantage on a spell save. Impactful, but anything stronger rapidly gets too strong.
I based the subspecies on some old 3.5E lore I found, though not explicitly incorporating it. So our base subspecies are the Rukha, which get limited illusion magic and the ability to inflict a nightmare curse. (The dream effect is basically a ribbon when a PC uses it, so it also gets some bonus psychic damage). The Akhazar are white tigers and have an affinity for necromancy, getting necrotic damage, some necromantic damage, and resistance to being frightened. Then black-furred Nazhunar are infiltration experts, with Stealth proficiency, climbing speed, and the ability to cast shadow phase (a sort of counterpart to invisibility). Two species feats are offered: Enchanted Hide, which grants you immunity to one physical damage type for one round, and Tiger's Roar, which lets you be real loud.
