I apologize for being a couple of days late with this dev update, as a few real life events conspired to keep me away from the PC for a day or two.
Static art is nearly complete for Chapter 1, with the ending scenes for the two major branches from the intro are wrapped up. These include lewd content and varied settings with quite a few different characters interacting with the MC, but they are not particularly long scenes.
As of today, I would say Chapter 1 has about twice as much content as a typical Chasing Sunsets chapter. Kent has really been burning the candle at both ends to deliver on the introduction.
Like Chasing Sunsets, Firebreak is story forward...Sort of a Web Comic with lewd elements, and as storylines begin to converge opportunities for the latter will compound.
Like Chasing Sunsets, the first chapter will lack crossovers (other than with our last game) as we want to be sure we have a winner before asking other devs to tie their IP to ours, no matter how loosely.
Speaking of Chasing Sunsets, Alain and I have been working to address gaps and shortfalls in that title as well. A number of annoyances have been tied up and some branch weirdness on certain uncommon paths is getting smoothed out. So far the changes include:
-Update to latest Ren'Py framework
-Phone app standardization
-Actual (non-AI) animations for the first two lewd scenes
-Prologue End of Chapter Summary
-Clicking the divider in phone chats no longer expands it as an image
-Code collapse between Steam and Patreon Versions (Only one code base now)
-Tons of small quality of life fixes
It is unlikely that old saves will work with the updated version, however this will also serve as the base for the remastered art Kent will fold into the finished product, so if you decide you want to replace from scratch for nostalgic purposes, you shouldn't have to do so again when the art update is released.
I'd like to throw a special shout out to Alain, who has been an absolute MVP in running down bugs and proposing solutions.
All in all, we're seeing things come together for both the old and the new, and we're grateful for your support as all roads converge on our new release!
