This has been... a long time coming. A passion project I've been working on in the background for some time, The Afterlifers is a re-imagining of Novin's Afterlife premise into an original story in comic book form.
I started this in 2024, and have been making slow and sure steps to make it more real since then. Afterlife as a game was heavily influential on me, and for some time I wanted to find some way to make its spirit be able to persist, even if Novin wasn't there to develop the game to its conclusion. My decision was to try something very different, but tried to capture some of the essence that made the unfinished game special to me.
This isn't Novin's Afterlife... This is The Afterlifers, by 6six6. I wear my inspiration on my chest, and while there will be parallels... I am not trying to remake Afterlife either.
So we start today with a familiar scenario in an extra long chapter one. Comics aren't cheap, so this high resolution "volume" style release will live on Patreon. I've started partnering with icarue to develop the series as well, so it'll later be available on his Patreon, as well. A public release will come a month+ later (and given the length likely be broken into a few parts).
But with this release, expect semi-regular releases for the series in the coming future. Well, at semi-regular by the standard of our production pipeline. I've been working on this long enough that there is some built up content to release a little more frequently until we catch up.
Regardless of those specifics, I hope it can be a worthy tribute to the work it takes inspiration from. I hope people enjoy this passion project I've developed.
