DESCRIPTION

[v0.18]I made progress! A bit. Not... as much as I hoped to. But, I do feel good about getting an update out in the near future. Interestingly Between sort of became more of a neglected child in the last month because Oathbreaker and Afterlifers got more attention. I want to rectify that for April.

[v0.15]Its in testing! And we've a smaller update that should hopefully come not too far after that. Short and simple!

[v0.4]Especially neglected child this month. But for... good... reasons...? I think.

[Chapter 01.5]Everything is ready to go for chapter 1, chapter 1.5, chapter 2, chapter 2.5, and chapter 3. And we got out chapter 1! This month actually ended up seeing me spend a lot of time learning as we worked through the editing process and via that get everything to where it needs to be on each chapter. To a point I could feel proud of each. There's a lot of nuance to developing and presenting these all in a way that feel professional, so extra shoutout to Kunico's experience in scanlations for teaching me a bit about little things here and to really make it feel like everything came together in a great way.

[Chapter 02]Future chapters are still in production. I'm stepping back to this and continuing to push along the writing here and there, too. So that's continued. Massmanic has been going through a lot personally lately, so we're hoping to get in touch with them soon to start the process of getting Chapter 2 out.

[Chapter 02]It's out! (again). Now on my patreon. Chapter 3 is just around the corner production wise, so that'll get roaring up in the not too distant future, hopefully.

[Introducing a brand new game... "Between the Hooks"]One of the things that forever enchanted me was fishing minigames inside games. In a sense, it made me angry when I was faced with something as trivializing as it. They deserved so much more. They deserved the spotlight. They deserved to be the focus. The sole proprietor of one's playtime. So... that's when I came up with this idea exactly 10 years ago.Today, I would like to introduce you to a new game...

Between the Hooks...

A game about fishing, for fishing, and by fish.

Explore the vast expanses of the ocean as you fish in one place and then the other. Don't worry, this is a very tight and tested gameplay loop. One anchored (pun intended with vigor) by the fact that the game does not stray from the fishing minigame roots.

The defining feature of this masterpiece will be that there are 66 different fishing minigames contained within the game. They're all different systems, inspired by the best of the best from games all across time. The gameplay will definitionally be incapable of getting boring with all this variety. Finally, a person can just play the fishing minigames - all of them - without ever need to be interrupted by the fluff of the story or non-fishing gameplay.

Now, just because you won't be interrupted by a story doesn't mean you won't get it. The game is filled to the brim with lore and plot devices. The trick was developing a system to tell this story without ever requiring you to stop the fishing.

What the team came up was something I am very proud of. Embedded within the fishing game are small vibratory patterns when you have a fish on the line. Eagle eye players will be able to recognize a story being told. Each rumble of your controller/monitor as you play is a piece of morse code, and a heartbreaking story deemed too good for mortal eyes is contained within.

It is a break through in story-gameplay integration that will shake the industry, and I am proud to show it off today.

Between the Hooks will go on sale for $69.99 on April 2nd, 2025. Be sure to look out for pre-order exclusives from Blockbuster and K-Mart, as those will never see the light of the day otherwise. Or at least until the initial sales push starts calming down.

This is the proudest moment of my career, and I am so happy to share it with you today. Cheers to a new era of gaming.

(Also april fools! Obviously.)(The above art previews are real previews and all from different games/projects. Consider that the real preview for the month)
