NeonStrip – Weekly Development Update
This week, I shifted focus from implementing new systems to stabilizing the game and expanding gameplay depth.
After getting the shop system fully working and integrating it with the player wardrobe system, I began addressing some major issues—especially around Save and Load functionality.
🛠️ Save & Load System Fixes
One of the biggest priorities this week has been fixing the Save and Load system.
This system is now almost fully stable, and I’ll continue refining it to eliminate remaining issues. Making sure your progress is reliable is critical before expanding further gameplay systems.
🎲 Random Encounter System (In Development)
I’ve started implementing a Random Encounter system, which will add more dynamic and unpredictable events to the world.
Planned encounters include:• Finding lottery tickets• Random fight encounters• Package pickup & delivery missions• Street-based interactions and encounters• Racing NPCs in spontaneous events
This system will make the world feel more alive and reactive as you explore.
🌅 Day & Night Improvements
I’ve also been tweaking the day and night cycle, focusing on:• More natural lighting transitions• Improved sunsets and sunrises• Better overall atmosphere throughout the day
The visual quality of the world is starting to feel much more cohesive.
💡 Interior Lighting Challenges
One of the more difficult issues I tackled was inconsistent interior lighting. Here is an image of an older version demonstrating interior lighting during the day, which was an issue.
During the day, interior lights were barely visible, while at night they could become too intense. I’ve been working on balancing this so interiors remain consistent regardless of time of day.
This is still being refined, but progress has been made.
🎭 Animation Improvements
I’ve also started adding more ambient and character animations throughout the world.
For example, the strip club NPCs are becoming more dynamic—instead of just walking around, they now actively perform and interact with their environment. This helps bring more life and realism to locations.
Overall, this week was about stability, polish, and setting up systems that will make the world more dynamic going forward.
More updates soon — back to development!
