Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 27 2026)

DESCRIPTION

Hi everyone, kicking off the week's update with a screenshot from my complete "FSR 4 on RDNA 3" video. It kind of got out of control - over half an hour of content including benchmarks and gameplay (per the above) of FSR 4 in action on Steam Machine, RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 XTX. I did a couple of clips today, isolating benchmarks and gameplay and belatedly came to the conclusion, there could probably have been two individual 16 minute videos from the full thing but it is what it is. This video will be going on early access shortly for all Supporters, primarily because I'm late with it. It was supposed to go live on Saturday, hence why last week may have felt a bit short on #content.

Still, as we're talking #content, let's fill you in on everything that happened in the meeting this morning - but it'll be a bit short I guess.

Tom still has his embargoed #content on the go, but it's still a way off and he's on holiday this week.

John continues to work on the Batman Arkham Knight DF Retro and I can reveal it'll have some input from myself. I will be showing the game running Christina's patch allowing for Native 4K at 30fps or 1440p60 (!). I'm also happy to report that John will be reviewing Denshattack! for us. True story: we were all sat at Gamescom Opening Night Live last year and it was actually this game in the pre-show that excited us most.

Oliver is handling our Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced video(s). We'll be kicking off with a PS5 focused video that is primarily looking at how the game is improved over the original. He'll also be looking at the full range of consoles in a second video coming later on in the week. Also: he spoke at length to the developers today and there'll be some website content on that.

Rich (ie me) is stress testing the new Adobe Premiere tech we've been working on. We're looking to more fully visualise what's happening within your PC during gameplay but we're also looking at faster, crash-free experience when rendering performance charts. I also still have the BC-250 mining card/"Steam Machine" to look at.

Rayan is hard at work on our Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced PC performance video. I'll be fronting it, but the work's really all his.

Will continues to do a wonderful job on the website, check it out - remember all Supporters get an ad free experience. He's also in the process of updating the last 11 months work of video #content to the digitalfoundry.net video database we inherited from the IGN site, so we can fully bring back our library of video downloads.

In fact, while we're here, why take a quick look at the updates to the Hookshot Media CMS that enable access to the video library? This one's for you, MittenFacedLass!

This system is soooooooo much better than the IGN one. It looks for new videos on YouTube, displays what's on the CDN, then you just drag and drop the files from the CDN to the appropriate YT video. The CMS also - rather cleverly - does all the bitrate calculations without having to download the file.

And as we're no longer copying and pasting filenames, the dodgy links should become a thing of the past.

Hookshot are also working with us on a brand-new benchmarking/bar chart system, which in turn means we're going to need to put a new round of investment into our automated benchmarking system. The games we do have supported provide valuable data of course, but they aren't new - the Steam Machine and Radeon 9070 GRE videos featured a lot of old-school manual benches. But we want to add Forza Horizon 6, Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem and more.

But the stuff we want to do on the website... well I'm hoping for something pretty clever. For GPUs and CPUs at least, what we want to do is for users to be able to choose their own comparison points and to also enter live prices. So, for example, during Prime Day in the UK, you could actually get some decent GPU deals - wouldn't it be cool if you could enter the prices of the cards you're looking at and then get all the price vs performance data? Just something we're thinking about but it's clear that value is of crucial importance when it comes to hardware and while we can't influence prices, we can at least empower you with data on good buys.

Anyway, as usual, please feel free to suggest topics and ask questions. Cheers!
