Hey guys,
Firstly I just want to once again say thank you to everyone for the continued support. I’m not the best about communicating, but just know that I’m still hard at work on content.
I saw another animator being dragged in a comment section about how long he’s taking to finish a long form video, and people were saying he’s just grifting for the money and slacking off. It made me realise there are probably some people who think the same thing about me so I’d just like to address that quickly. You see this often in solo-dev games where the guy makes a somewhat playable demo, outlines an ambitious roadmap and people flock to him and start subbing because they’re just starved for the content they want. He then drip feeds content for years and produces nothing of value. People assume this is the case with animators as well but I think it’s the polar opposite. Every month I DON’T release an animation, paid supporter numbers plummet. For financial reasons I can’t solely work on Icarus alone, so I’m forced to split my time between Icarus and short videos.
However I live a mostly frugal life and the majority of the money generously donated by you guys gets spent on production costs. I just want to make it clear that even though I’m quiet and/or no videos are coming out, doesn’t mean I’m not working on stuff, especially Icarus Ep2 (and 3, and 4 and 5).I’m going to break this update up into a couple parts, with the next ones probably being delivered by email, so look out for that in a couple hours.
DelaysI should’ve had an Icarus related video (More on that in the email update) ready at the end of 2025, or at least the beginning of 2026. I am a one man show but I still rely on people whom I contract to do certain things. This includes:Voice acting
Motion graphics (displays, UI’s etc)Some model making and rigging (the characters)
I suffered delays from all three of these toward the end of 2025, which was completely out of my control. In fact, the guy who was doing the motion graphic stuff, is completely unavailable for the foreseeable future, so I’ve had to take that over myself even though I’m pretty terrible at it.So, yeah. I’m sorry for the lack of releases, and I know I do tend to take more time on things than others but there are some things that are totally out of my control. I do want to stay true to my vision though so just releasing half baked stuff I’m not happy with is not an option for me.
I will make another post when email update(s) go out.Thank you
