[UPDATE] - Hexlands 1.4.2: Now with Multi-Biome support
Hey everyone. Hexlands 1.4.2 adds something I have wanted in the generator for a while: maps no longer have to begin with a single biome.
Now you can open Advanced Terrain and bring different biomes in from the north, south, east, or west. Choose the broad layout, decide how far each region reaches, and let the seed create the boundaries. The result is still procedural, but now you have much more control over the kind of world it produces.
What I like most about this feature is that the geography itself can suggest the setting and story. Who lives in the southern deserts? What hidden ruins lie in the frozen north? Why does everyone bunch up in the temperate midlands where the cows are fat, and the trees are pretty???
Coast controls have also become more precise. You can still choose which sides of the map meet the sea, but now you can decide how far that water reaches inland. Keep it shallow for a broad coastal region, or push both shores inward to create a narrow frontier, land bridge, or contested corridor. The coastline still uses the seed to stay irregular and organic; the slider controls its overall depth, not the exact shape of every shore.
