DESCRIPTION

Hi all, new video altert!

The Summit of the Gods is such an impressive manga by Jiro Taniguchi, and the teams behind the animated film did the source material a whole lot of justice. One of my favourites, truly! But something just as interesting to me, was seeing how this film came about at all. None of Taniguchi's work had been animated prior (in fact, this is still the only animation adaptation that covers his work) but it took YEARS of production and sorting out to make it all happen. And thanks to France, Belgium and Luxembourg, we have this masterpiece!

The film is available to watch on Netflix, in pretty much most places. And the manga (in English) is looking to get a future re-print, announced only this week, which is incredible timing on my part.

This definitely leans more documentary-esque, but I wanted to cover the process of this project, more than the film itself? (If you are interested in that, my friend Beyond Ghibli also has a great video on this film)

Next video will be about the Witch Hat Atelier anime (in the outro you'll hear me second guessing myself if that'd be the case, but i recorded that a few weeks ago 😂 i've fully decided it's on WHA now).

The video will be out publicly tomorrow, with captions available!

Thanks to everyone for supporting me, I truly appreciate it!

All the best,

Dani
