New Zarya Model
A lot of you guys have been asking about the Zarya model I’ve been using in my recent work. Just to be clear, the base model isn’t mine — it was originally made by Nyl. I mainly tweaked it to make her more muscular and a bit easier to work with in my setup.
With that in mind, if I do end up releasing the model, it’s really important to me that Nyl gets credited first since he’s the original creator. I definitely don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, so if you share or use it, just make sure he gets the proper credit before me.
My original plan was to release it after Zarya’s debut was over so I’d have time to iron out all the little kinks. But if you guys are cool with dealing with a few bugs here and there, I could drop it sooner.
Let me know what you think.
Schedule Update
This is why I never plan stuff, because when I plan stuff It always kills me.Some posts ago I mentioned that I want my animations to always have a clear theme or idea behind them.
Working on this bi-weekly schedule has made me realize that five days definitely isn’t enough time to come up with an animation that has a strong theme and actually good animation—at least not at my current skill level.
Right now it’s pretty much impossible to create something within that 4–5 day window that has real substance and isn’t just a braindead loop. If you look at my last couple of animations, you can probably tell the quality is starting to drop as I get squeezed harder and harder by the schedule.
If I want to keep improving as a creator, I need to give myself time to experiment, iterate, and even scrap projects when needed. Some of the work I’m most proud of are the ones below. They all took different amounts of time to make, and a few of them definitely took longer than a week.
I’m starting to realize that every project needs a different amount of time to cook. If I rush them I just end up sucking the life out of the idea, releasing them in a dire state and then that makes me even more depressed.
End
So going forward, the bi-weekly schedule is sacrificed to Bhaal and I won't be adhering to it or any other schedule anymore unless its something like a daily animation challenge. In light of this, I’m pretty much going to be working on Zarya’s debut around the clock now, instead of it just being an every-other-week thing. Like before, whenever I run into hiccups or challenges, I’ll still experiment with them through short animations—but this time there won’t be any time constraints. It’ll just be pure iteration until I reach diminishing returns. As always, your feedback is welcome
