I hope everyone is faring beautifully. I've been cooking up some precious jewels for you. Specifically this video, which I've done for the Piñata Eurovision Song Contest. It'll be streaming live on the NextUp Comedy platform (https://nextupcomedy.com) in a few weeks time - on Fri 21 May. But I've finished it early and just wanted to share it with you all secretly here.
This is the full length version, which will be shortened to 2.30 for the contest so I hope you enjoy the full whack. The show looks to be fun - there's a bunch of excellent acts doing songs - so if you're free then why not come along?
I wrote a first draft of this song almost 3 years ago (before Light Touch had even graced the pages) and I found the idea funny but I didn't even nearly have the editing skills to capture the story, so I shelved it. Now that I've had a year of lockdown to formulate some green screen capabilities and better editing chops, I realised it was actually feasible.
This is by far the longest it's taken me to put together a song and video of this length - in particular comping all the green screen stuff was a hell of a job but honestly I'm pretty pleased with how the world-building has come out. Also, I spent an afternoon spraying cardboard with industrial radiator paint and no mask, which was - to say the least - pleasant. As always, I would love to hear your thoughts on the outcome!
I've got some fun things in the pipeline, including a collaboration with a fellow Youtube artiste that lots of you may have seen coming... (mysterious), and some palpable intrigue from a production company regarding a Jazz Emu sitcom script (imperious!). If I'm a bit quieter on the video churning front, this is why...
