Hello dear friends and donors. Thank you so much for guzzling down my new album with gusto. I thought I'd do another Splitter production breakdown, so you could see more of my thought processes behind the writing and production elements, and this is one of my favourites.https://splitter.fm/thejazzemu/oozingAs you'll see from the Splitter, this song actually stemmed from a tiny musical idea I had at about 7am while walking to work in 2018. This sort of brain activity, or indeed any at all, at this time in the morning is unheard of for me. That is, unless I have made the song up in my sleep just as I am in the throws of waking up, which did happen with:a) We Own A Jungle
b) My genuine creation from this morning "I Am A Skin Breather", which my sleeping brain decided was the logical alternative to being a Mouth Breather. The idea, which made a lot of sense in my dream, being that a Skin Breather breathes through the entire organ of their skin via what I can only describe as violent bodily pulsation. I had a melody for it and everything. My gut says it needs workshopping though.
Anyway I digress horrifically. I made a quick demo of the Oozing when I came back from work (just the bones of melody, bass and drums), and left if festering in the drafts until I rediscovered and repurposed it this year. Always fun to find abandoned golden nuggets from olden times past that are actually worth using.
I'm really excited to make a video for this one, but think it needs to be done properly, with a proper bit of set etc, to nail the story-telling. So watch this space pls!
In the meantime, in some exciting news, I am expanding into a room with the sole purpose of making audio and visual content. This is not to say that content will no longer come from my toilet or the tiny corner of my bedroom... Just that I now have a whole new room to play around with too. Thank you to you all so much for helping make this possible. I can't wait to bring you some live shows from the beginning of next year. Right now I needs must get myself rehearsing. And if I'm putting out too much content, please tell me off because it means I'm green-screen-comping myself over pleasant pictures of department stores to avoid actually doing said rehearsal.
