New Drunken Octopus Builds
Been pretty busy lately, so the Drunken Octopus October release happened... in November. This new release has new code from upstream and adds two new TAZ 6 builds for folks who are using Archim boards:
- Dual Extruder v3 (Yellowfin)
- FlexyDually (Longfin)

Updates on the BTT002 Project
As my ongoing project, I have been slowly upgrading my 1st Mini to use a BTT002 board. The electronics are in place and I made modifications to the Drunken Octopus code to make it all work. During the upgrade, I found out that the process is somewhat more involved than I had hoped.
First, you need to change the connector housing on the three endstops that are used, because on the Rambo they are three position locking connectors, while on BTT002 they are two position locking connectors. The probe lines also need to go on a four pin locking connector, so some repinning work needs to happen there as well. Swapping out the connector housing isn't very hard if you have spare connector housings of the appropriate size on hand (which I did), but if you don't, sourcing them might take some effort.
Wiring up the solid state relay for the fans is a bit tedious, but I have a video explaining how to do it in my video showcase. As some of you have mentioned, if you want to use a BTT002, it may be easier to simply switch out your toolhead and case fan with 5V fans.
One other problem that threw me for a loop is that when using the TMC2209 on the BBT002 on a printer with endstops (such as the Mini 1), you must cut the DIAG pin on the X, Y and Z driver daughter boards, otherwise homing will not work.
Finally, the board also has a quirk that if the printer is connected to a PC via USB, it remains powered up even when the printer switched off. This was frustrating, but I was able to make this mod to a USB cable to resolve the issue.
So, what's the conclusion? Is the BTT002 a viable upgrade for the Mini 1? Certainly, but there are a lot of little gotchas to the process. The Einsy Retro is a far easier upgrade.
