DESCRIPTION

Hi! This is a few weeks later than intended as I got held up with some other much more boring worky work but glad to be back on to this again finally. It honestly hasn't been easy finding time over the past month but I'm really excited with how it's gradually shaping up!

So in a move that made me wish I'd spent more time with the colour testing experimentation phase at the start, I changed my mind on the colour scheme and turned the entire environment orange and yellow.

I just wasn't feeling the purple blue gradient I showed last time and wanted a warmer tone for the setting which is the station Porkchop works and yells at rookies in.

I think this colour scheme is working well with the characters now and I've been finding time to actually get key poses down throughout the cartoon to make sure I like what I'm working with.

(the reddish box is a stand in for something else that I'm going through and finalising at the end)

I've animated some shots too with just lip sync left to add. I've been throwing every spare moment I have at this to get it made so have been tackling whichever stage of production I feel most keen to do when I have time. This sounds very chaotic because it is, I figured if I'm in an animation mood right when I have a free afternoon then that's what's getting done.

As for my animation process on this one, there's less smooth animation since I feel the jumpier poses sell the comedy a bit better and also save a tonne of time.

I did however want to show my process with a simple shot where his jacket is blowing in the drama wind that's coming from nowhere.

In clip studio paint it's hard to keep things as streamlined and tidy as my workflow in Adobe Animate which I used for most of my cartoons but I'm sick of Adobe and their buggy expensive software and Ai crap, also the brushes and features of CSP allow more creativity and expression which is great! As you can see in the following image I end up with a lot of layers for a simple shot, I put the layers into folders and when I no longer need the rough anim layer, I save a new version and delete the layer to make the file lighter. I'm still learning a lot about how to make CSP more user friendly and simple like Animate but I don't care for now I just want those brush options.

I have a lot more time from here on out so I won't go radio silent again whilst I continue this cartoon. My next update I want to share a chunk of the episode with you guys as there is a big section I'm focusing on to complete first and get a strong sense of how the whole thing will look!

That's it for this evening though, thanks for all the support as always and catch you all very soon (for real this time lol)
