Wow, May was a busy month. My wife had big art shows that took up two weekends. I also have been recovering from the marathon of finishing Quiet Spaces Vol 5 (have you listened to Quiet Spaces Vol 5 yet? You should!)
All that is to say that this month got a lot of new things started, but not finished. But I really do like what I got done!
Is it A Rut or a Groove - Trying to break out of my post-album release funk, I saw a line "Being in a rut or a groove is a matter of perspective". I was in the mood for a funk house style track and this really delivered. Big fan of how it turned out.
Twinkle - Randomly on BlueSky I saw this post. Something about it really captured my interest and I really wanted to try adding on to it. Definitely a different vibe from what I usually do, but I'm happy with it!
Jennii Galaxy - Used Star for Sale (Abstraction Star Hunter Remix) - I was listening to the original track while driving a few weeks ago and this bass line popped into my head. I had to give it a go and I'm very proud of the result. Might expand on this one more at some point.
There are at least four songs that I started, but didn't have the time or inspiration to finish. Several of them need vocals, but I'm still getting comfortable with how to record and process my voice.
I also am deep into commission stuff still. Bouncing between many different songs as feedback comes in.
In other audio stuff, I recreated Doo as a Decent Sampler instrument. I uploaded that into the !Packs folder. I also pushed the Two Hour Track Challenge, Season 25 to distribution, which is a pretty huge milestone for me personally.
For game development, I implemented a feature about turning text into Animal Crossing-style speech. When I came up with the idea of Fever Break!, I imagined cats trying to cuddle up to you, but they also had janky text to speech voices that talked while they pawed all over the blanket. I'm excited to implement the cats and see it all work together.
Plans for June...
Big focus is to finish up some of these commissions. They have been hanging over my head for too long and it's just a lack of focus that's been keeping me from them. I'm looking forward to getting them out of my hair so I can focus more on making new music again.
Also want to try to get Fever Break! into a playable state so others can have fun with it. I feel like I've gotten far more comfortable with Godot lately and I'm looking forward to starting some new projects with all my new knowledge.
I am also starting work on an expanded version of Doo that includes more vowel sounds because a lot of people seem to really enjoy that one. Will be nice to get something new posted on my Gumroad.
Thank you!
This year has been such a whirlwind of activity, it's hard to believe it's almost half over. I've struggled to keep on task with everything, but I feel like I'm finally starting to get a grip. I want to spend my creative energy on new personal projects and I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
I hope things have been going well for you <3 I'm off to donate to the kitties! 🐈
