June was a busy month, mostly away from the computer. A lot of helping out with family stuff and doing yardwork before it gets far too hot out. I got some of it done, so I'll count that as a win.
Music is in a weird spot. I have like 3 songs in a mostly-completed state, but I really want to add lyrics and I just haven't had the brain space to properly sing. I did get one done and included.
Fraying Loop - This song was originally Shoegaze Miasma, but I finally found a better name for it. I touched up the song as a whole and added lyrics! This one has been on my mind for a while and I'm glad to get it out there. The vocals are still rough around the edges, but I'm happy with it? Instrumental version is on the drive :)
Friend? - I'm starting to compile the next Cuddlecore album and I realized that I didn't have a title track yet. I started this one last week and I love how it came out. Very cute and bouncy.
Galactic Lullaby - Not really sure where this one came from. I had been listening to the album by Ferry Corston - As Above So Below and I think I got some big vibes from that. I really like this song, but it needs some smoothing out when I find the album this is gonna get placed it :)
Gone - Not sure about this track name yet but I'm very happy with how this one came out. Absolutely love the vibes and energy of it. Hope I can do more of this in the future.
I'm still working through commissions. I finished the rough drafts for one project and sent them off to the guitarist to jam on. While waiting for that I can focus on the loops for the other project and make genuine progress. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for these and I'm excited to have my brain back.
There are more vocal tracks that need words so I can finish them, so hopefully next month there will be some interesting new gems to listen to!
Plans for July...
Just keep jamming. The first half of this year has been really weird. I've been struggling to find my footing in a post-2HTC, post-streaming creative landscape. I have started doing streaming again on Wednesdays and having fun with it, but I think it's just overcoming the multiple layers of burnout I've been powering through. Every month I feel a bit more ready to tackle some new things, which is exciting.
I'm getting closer on finishing up Fever Break! as well. I built a finite state machine for the cats in the game (they annoy you and tangle up your blankets until they fall asleep). It's been fun to chip away at game development still. I've been learning a lot about Godot and the next game will go so much faster.
Thank you!
In a few days, the final season of the Two Hour Track Challenge goes live and I'm so grateful for you coming on this journey with me. If it's been one month or 8 years, your support and kind words have been a real driving force in my creative journey. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Off to donate to the kitties, have a great month!
