DESCRIPTION

Hello, hope you're well!

Before I get into Vamp, as always the video is packed with how things work and what they are (what's a filter ping? for example) and most of it is applicable to multiple other modules or combos or for filters, VCAs, saturation etc. If you grab a Vamp then give the patches a go, but certainly try them with other things too.

Vamp is a monster, vampiric if you will ... it's an early Korg style filter (think MS-10, first rev MS-20) Sallen Key design that leans into the non-linear wilder side of it, adds more character with a two stage tube integrated design (one on the filter input side, the other in the resonance path) and then adds modern precision for tracking and stability in all modes. I say modes, it's a single filter but with a mode switch for low, band and high pass. Lots of smart routing options, added pre or post VCA and sonic variety going on included the FANGS (output clipping).

It can be a beautifully musical tube bottom end rounded pseudo LPG, a whole 8HP voice module, a killer kick drum, raucous filter, the band pass is to die for and it's rubber-y enough it should wear a gimp suit (listen for that in the video). Impressive. It's a module I've had the pleasure of knowing about and testing over a longer period and it's great to see it come to life.

NOT 1, NOT 2 ... BUT 3 EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS!

From the production of the Vamp video comes 3 additional exclusive videos. As always $5+ tier supporters will find all the exclusives videos in THIS POST ('ere mate give us a click!).

The first is a patch I kept out of the video of "side chain ducking with style" using the tube saturation on the input stage to duck and push into, then adding some french house-esq filter swells alongside the volume ducking.

The second is "Tube warmth for cold digital sources & distortion for drones", which again I kept out of the video, you get a short glimpse of in the video. But I held that back as an exclusive as it didn't fit the overall flow of the edit for me but I really like the big full on sound.

Then third is a shorter excerpt from one of the patches in the video, that was too good to leave on the cutting room floor ... it's a little tip on how to hide filter mode switches while performing with the filter. Something I really enjoy.

Find all 3 of those videos in the exclusives video post here.

Plenty more to come soon, 2 new videos next week, join us in the premiere if you can, check out the post on MASTERING made this week too as I'm looking forward to getting into that with more of you and chat soon!

Thanks for the support and see you in the premiere live chat or Discord.
